The lunch buffet was amazing,a lot of dishes choice, but lamb was missing $18 for a lunch is a little expensive, but the place was elegant, service very good.

This is a very popular spot! The service was perfect, our food was delicious and everything arrived promptly and hot. The atmosphere was classy, too. If we go back to Montreal, we will definitely return.

I really like the buffet concept because it allows me to taste a bit of everything and go back for more when something is particularly appealing to my taste buds. This place really offers great food at a very affordable price. In my opinion, the only negative is the fact that the line to get the food can be long.... More

We arrived late in a cold drizzly day. After we checked in at Sofitel Golden Mile, we were lucky to get a table in this apparently very popular and busy restaurant. The restaurant's ambiance was unique, warm and welcoming. Our waiter was most helpful and accommodating as I love my dishes to be more on a spicier side. The staff... More

Le Taj is an Indian restaurant on Stanley Street in downtown Montréal just south of Sherbrooke Street. It is a popular destination and comes highly recommended. I went there with family members who had been there on multiple occasions. When we arrived at 1 pm the place was nearly full, and our party of four without reservations was accommodated by... More

We truly enjoyed Le Taj! Service was excellent and the full flavors in all the dishes combined with delicious naan made for a highly enjoyable experience.

Having a reunion with colleagues after quite a few years proved a delight at Le Taj. The decor is very modern and stunning. The staff were very attentive and then there was the beautifully prepared food. I loved every one of our shared choices. Le Taj beer paired nicely with the dishes.

We went here because of the good reviews. We were in Montreal during the low season and many places were empty. Not this restaurant. I highly recommend making reservations. The food was excellent. The service was good too. We had tasty garlic naan and Butter Chicken. The other dishes were excellent too. Great Indian food.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It is a bit more expensive than most Indian restaurants, but it is much better than most in many ways: the decor is beautiful, the service was efficient, friendly and very professional, the wine selection was excellent, and the menu is diversified. Sharing plates is truly the best way to fully enjoy... More

I was looking forward to returning to Le Taj, a high end indian restaurant located in downtown Montreal. I was so disappointed. The grourmet club I belong to visited Le Taj two days ago and both the service and food quality was indeed lacking. The group of 12 persons were all seated by 7:10, the orders taken by 8 pm,... Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
