I am quite picky about Indian food and this place rocks. Wonderful authentic atmosphere and fantastic food. We had tandoori chicken, a shrimp dish and a lamb dish. The chicken was succulent with mellow spices and the lamb was fork tender. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. We also had fresh naan, of course. It was a little proxy but... More

This is a good option for those who like Indian food and found themselves in the center of the city, that is surrounded by too many places, that a lot of them are quite mediocre. This is a classical Indian place with many typical dishes. Soups, chicken, lamb, bread, mango lassi - all were delicious. Service is very good. One... More

This is a very solid Indian restaurant, tons of choices and everything I've tried (I've been there a few times now) has been delicious. They're also good for gluten-free diners, including people with celiac disease. Most of the dishes are naturally gluten-free and the staff are very understanding and will make sure your meal is safe if you need it.

A party of four - ordered the feast. Food was outstanding. Probably the best Indian food we have eaten. Succulent lamb dishes and vegetarian dishes are equally as amazing. Service was impeccable. Wait staff are very attentive and anticipate what a diner needs. Great selection of wines at reasonable prices. We had enough leftovers for a another meal and it... More

the tandoori was the best part of the dinner. Seating was prompt and service very good. I think the prices are a bit steep but overall good. I wanted to have really good chai but chose to avoid disappoint.

I am visiting Montreal from Australia. For dinner recently, i dropped in to Le Taj, on Stanley Street, Montreal. The location is good being in the city area, plus it had a good rating in TripAdvisor. I was well-received in the restaurant, sat me in the bar area just momentarily while the table was being made up. I knew what... More

Had a nice lunch at Le Taj. Clean and beautifully decorated restaurant with nice atmosphere. We were shown which items on the buffet were vegetarian. The buffet was replenished as needed and kept tidy. And, the food was delicious.

I have been to Le Taj several times. This visit was not impressive. The cook who makes chicken on the tandoor oven also makes naan bread. You can watch him preparing the food through a glass window. He grabs the RAW chicken with his hands, then grabs the naan bread with the same hand and cuts the naan bread in... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
