Deeply entrenched in downtown Montreal for more than 3 decades. Carefully staffed by people trained to treat every guest as a celebrity and invitingly decorated with complex figures embedded in simple, modern lines.
This is the kind of restaurant that I like: the food is amazing and the people there are so nice that you feel immediately at home, even if you’re very far away from it.

Le Taj is one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal. You’ll pay more than the $$ to $$$ you see on Trip Advisor (it’s definitely $$$ to $$$$)... but it’s all worth it. Impeccable service. Great food. Nice place.
Have to be honest, this was the most pleasant surprise I’ve had in a while.

The staff is very welcoming, efficient, and discreet. I particularly liked the fact that they didn't rush us even though we were taking our time to finish the very good Sancerre. The vegetable appetizer was delicious and spicy as was the lamb vingaloo.
Everything tasted GREAT! I was super impressed! I would definitely go back! We had the curried shrimps, curried beef, Dahl soup, sizzling lamb chops etc! Amazing food! Loved the atmosphere as well! Nicely dimmed etc!
Following a friend's recommendation, we had dinner at Le Taj and were not disappointed. The servers answered all our questions regarding the menu and offered suggestions and alternatives. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed a different meal. The staff was fantastic with our 2 year old...More
