We went it by chance close to the closing time of their kitchen because it was getting late and we immediately needed a place to eat and nurse our baby, who was getting hungry and fussy. Our server immediately brought a plate of carrot, raddish and something else and carrot turned out to be what the baby needed at that... More

Back at Le Mas des Oliviers for about our 10th visit. We come to Montreal annually for the Jazz festival and cycling. We wouldn't miss this restaurant. It has understated old world charm, professional waiters, beautifully presented dishes, and wonderful French cuisine. Their soups are especially tasty as are the desserts. A wide selection of entrees makes this a treat... More

First time visit to this terrific french restaurant. Worked very well for a pre-Bell Centre dinner. Service was attentive and efficient. Had the Arctic Char special which was outstanding.Menu has a very nice variety of fixed and a la carte options covering all of your favourite french dishes. Great patio and very nice selection of wines.

Food is really subpar. Cold stale bread and greasy tasteless food. The service was very good, but the decore and the overall feel of the place is one of a dated, tired and passé restaurant. Really nothing special I'm afraid.

I had the pleasure at eating at Le Mas Des Oliviers and it was a great experience. The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. I tried the duck in peppercorn sauce and it was cooked perfectly. I would for sure come back.

We had eaten here years ago as it was a favorite of my parents. We came for a late lunch. Given this is a pricey place, we were disappointed. There were quite a few tables open but they seemed to seat us at the worst one right near the washrooms. They are some nice crudites and breads to start. The... More

Where to start? Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation which we did not, it was a rainy Sunday just after 5pm and we were coming from a museum, the Maitre D turned his back to us and said an audible "ugh." Not a nice welcome. Were seated and our server was even more rude. He grumbled... More

Great food, service, and atmosphere. Not £ as mentioned on TripAdvisor, but definitely worth a try. We ordered a lamb shank and lobster in mushroom sauce. The lamb shank was very tender and succulent. The flavour of the lamb is a bit on the heavy side, but it balances well with the side potatoes. The lobster was fresh, and carefully... More

A trip to Montreal always includes Le Mas and it never disappoints! At one time, there were plenty of this type of Resto (not a bistro!) in the city (Ex: Le Caveau, etc.), but they have gradually disappeared. Somehow, Le Mas has continued, maintaining its charm, menu variety and quality. The reception and casualness of the staff make you feel as... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
