Location is great and it's an excellent spot to sit out doors, rain or shine. Usually busy so reservations are recommended. Food is good, traditional sort of menu. Great for parties.

The Jardin Nelson is situated in Old Montreal, I love to go there in the summer to enjoy the big garden in the back. There is jazz music and the atmosphere is very nice. I always take all the visitors who come see me in Montreal to Jardin Nelson for a french crepe. They make the best crepes. The menu... More

The terrace is the best! Crepes is the specialty but they have many other type of dishes. Ideal in the summer, while visiting Old Montreal. They often have live jazz musicians playing. Long line-ups at lunch or dinner time in the summer but worth the wait. Reserve ahead!

I live in Montreal, and I love the OLD PORT! It is the go to place in the summer, or any time of the year. Jardin Nelson is one of our family favorites for years! I have been married for a long time, and this was one of our romantic places we went to when we were dating. It's changed... More

I've been to this place 30-40 times since 2000, it's seasonal, otherwise I'd have been more often. The food is pretty good, the menu is simple, the pizzas and the crêpes are great. I like the rabbit crêpe the best but it's worth it to try different things. They used to have this "atlantic" pizza, it had salmon on it,... More

Went there over the summer! I would highly recommend to arriving early as there is always a lineup. The portions were a good size and the cocktails were quite tasty. Our server was very attentive and overall the service was great! Would definitely recommend a visit over the summer if you're in the Old Port.

I love this place. The garden is very nice and the atmosphere is wonderful. The service is good, we just had salads but they were filling and we enjoyed them. I was here at the end of the summer, but imagine that in the summer evening's it's beautiful. Will definitely return

This place is huge and offers outdoor seating. The Indian crepes were poor, but the ceviche and lobster mac and cheese were excellent! Live music, playing jazz. Good service but may be slow when busy.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
