Have stayed at the Hotel Bonaventure twice, and overall, both visits were good; the hotel is lovely, well-situated and exceedingly comfortable. However, our experiences at the bar have been notably negative. During our first visit in October, 2015, we attributed sub-par service to a packed room and an 'off' night, and opted to give the place another try on our... More

When you're travelling, a nice bar/restaurant is a must. Where else but at a bar can a sole traveller sit down and have a drink and share travel stories with complete strangers. Le Belvedere bar area was recently renovated and it's very nicely appointed. Wood everywhere and a small well stocked bar. The food is good and after a few... More

Good food, reasonably price food, excellent service, we will definitly be back. The beets with sheep cheeze was excellement, ceasar salad also was different and very good. I had fish and chip wich was good, kids had pizza that they loved ( big portion ) and husbans had the steak that was cooked to perfection.

I don't recognize the restaurant that is described in the previous four reviews. This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Hotel Bonaventure in downtown Montreal. There are no windows, so there are no views, except of the hotel lobby and two escalators which dominate the physical atmosphere of this restaurant. Let me say that my wife and I... More

Service is prompt in a relaxed atmosphere. We had cappuccino and espresso. Both were very good. As simple as it is to make a espresso or cappuccino many places can't get it right. Here it was perfect.

As indicated in my hotel review, this restaurant looks great. However, neither my wife and I enjoyed the food. In fact, we were questioning the freshness of it all. I was feeling just great when we got there until we ate. I then started feeling sick from it within the hour. Instead of spending the evening cruising the area, I... More

With my 12 yrs old. We had tacos, which were "ok" but served with guacamole, sour cream and tomato salsa, a treat for us! We enjoyed a plate for both of us, with glass of wine and water $35. The atmosphere is great. Quiet, nice dim light, nice bar.

If you like walking, go there. First, you reach Mont-Royal and then, after a walk (bring comfortable shoes), you will eventually get to the Belvedere. The view is superb. It is quiet. Remember: Montreal is a small city and it is secure.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
