My wife and I ordered three dishes to share and they were all delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you ordered here. Dishes ran around 15 dollars. Our total bill was around 80 dollars including an slcoholic drink each, tax and tip. Dishes aren't so huge you have to take leftovers. We ate everything except for... More

I tried some of the items on the menu this time which I had't had before and was very pleasantly surprised. It was a spicy beef and I also had sweet and sour fish which is not on the menu but which they prepare for one on request. For starters, I had the spring rolls which were wonderful. I think... More

Stopped here on a whim one night and just looking for appetizers. We were surprised. The crab and white asparagus soup, pork dumplings and duck pancake were out of this world! Service was impeccable.

We did not have a nice experience. We lived in the Marriott next door and we were tired since we just arrived. We wanted something simple. We did not order much. The food was not authentic and it was expensive.

First time back to Montreal in 10 years and this was the first restaurant I returned to. L'Orchidee Chine is a landmark restaurant and have some of the best food in town. Dumplings with Peanut sauce = excellent; Salt and Pepper Crisp Shrimp = excellent. I could go on, but just see for yourself. Service is also fantastic and the... More

Located on Rue Peel near the hotels and museum, we enjoyed our first dinner there so much that we returned on another night and were extremely pleased on both occasions. The space is small and intimate with great acoustics so we could converse in normal tones and be heard. The service was crisp, but unobtrusive. The menu had enough diversity... More

Excellent meal. Many choices. Better as a group to share different choices. Each platter easily served the 8 of us. Service was quick and efficient. Choices in the $20 range. Valet parking available at $10.

Trying to find a parking space and walking the several blocks on that windy and bitterly cold winter day was the only thing we could have done without. But easygoing owner George Lau made us feel at home and patiently walked us through the menu, helping us to select the right combination of dishes, something we really appreciated. Nicely presented,... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
