My girlfriends and I are on a mission to try every cuisine that exists in Montreal. We are open to most of things and willing to give everything a try. We love discovering new flavors and sharing with people. So this time around we went for Afghanistan food. This little gem is something to try. We got the "table d'hote"... More

Truly tasty food in a fun dining room. Great service with a smile and efficient options. We chose the full menu from starter to dessert and all were amazing. Could return in a heartbeat. It is a bit difficult to find in the night as street lighting is romantic and parking always an issue in Montreal.

The restaurant smells great as you enter and the decor is rustic with many afghani cultural pieces. Waiters are knowledgeable and friendly, quick to explain and advise. Food lives up to expectations with many spices not usually encountered. The house salad and 3 rices served as sides are excellent. The vegetarian in our group found they were adaptable. Food service... More

We had dinner with our toddler at this restaurant and the main waiter was more than perfect. He made sure our toddler could have food which was easy for kids to enjoy. He was very attentive to all of us including our toddler. The food was great as well. This is a restaurant you can proudly take your friends and... More

Love the atmosphere, the food and it's a BYOB! Only negative aspect is the lack of changes on the menu, but to keep those cheap prices, I guess it's worst the repetition

We went here for a final meal out in Montreal, and had one of the set meals. Absolutely delicious and the food transported us back to our travels near the Khyber Pass. We reminisced about days past. Wonderful atmosphere, great value for money, delicious food. Would highly recommend this place for authenticity.

Lentil soup to die for! Nice afghan style empanadas, seasonal root vegetables, amazing filet mignon and lamb kebabs, the rice is succulent and all this for 29.99 and you can bring your own wine! A must try for couples, family and friends. Group friendly!

I found Khyber Pass on mtlblog.com. I was looking for a good restaurant where you can bring your own wine with no corkage fee. We had never done this before. Our server, Simo, was very knowledgeable and we confidently let him choose what we ordered. We picked table menu #1 and started with the two soups, lentil and beef noodle.... More

I wasn't sure if it can be a blast since we already had multiple great experiences with other Afghani restaurants in Vancouver (East is East is awesome) but I found it was actually pretty good and great staff and ambience.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
