Not a very satisfying experience once again. We sat on the second floor since we were told a minimum 45 minute wait for first floor. The presentation of the foods was both haphazard and unappetizing. The fajita plates did not come "hot and sizzling" and looked like they were quickly thrown together. We were sitting under a speaker which had... More

We've been going to this restaurant for at least 15 years and until recently, we loved it! However, our last visit a few weeks ago was an eye opener. Things have changed (and unfortunately, not for the better). Prices are still excellent as is (for the most part) the service. The food quality though has gone down. We ordered the... More

We ate at Carlos and Pepe's this past weekend. My husband had the mahi mahi tacos, I had fajitas and we also ordered the coconut shrimp. Our main plates were actually pretty good, (a decent price point too), but our shrimp was delivered well after we received our other food and they were very overcooked. They tasted like sysco brand... More

I went a couple of times to Carlos & pepe's. It's a nice place to have a talk with friends while eating. Food is average and fat (for most of the plates). Nice thing is that they serve you a soup and some nachos with salsa when you arrive.

In 1989 it was a brasserie; going back after all these years I found a fun little Spanish resto with great service and a yummy guacamole. Prices very reasonable. The house white wine was perfectly quaffable.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
