My wife and I are definitely epicurean (fed-up of the word foodie), Great food , perfectly paired wine but my wallet doesn't always agree. Jerome Ferrer started this place as a cafe many years ago to now a culinary empire with several locations throughout the city and ready made gastronomical food in groceries. A 4-course lunch, 45$ is one of... More

A 6 star french restaurant with the most amazing presentation you ever saw. For example : a starter of beef jerky strips served on a clothes line! All the rest is also amazing. A must visit in Montreal.

This was truly one of the finest meals we've ever had. Every facet of this experience was 5 star. The room, the art work, the place settings were gorgeous. We just knew we were in for something special before we even sat down. And then we saw the menu, and watched as meals were served. WOW. The presentations were as... More

I dunno. It's sort of kitch.. trying to be something very high end. Open the little box and smoke comes out. I would prefer a good solid meal. Not for me I guess. If you like a lot of attention from the waiters this might be for you. Friendly young men are constantly dropping by to explain something.. a bit... More

We have experienced amazing tasting menus from NYC, Napa, Paris, Philly, San Sebastian etc This place was a good rep of that genre: not great. Local ingredients with French execution was delicious but gimmickry in its presentation. We chose the premium wine parings that were unique and very well described and appropriate; however, prior to the 11 course (cheeses) we... More

This place seems to get all of its hype from the all the tourists that end of there. As locals we found it classic, nothing bad about the food but definitely nothing special or innovative. The portions for their tasting menu are so small that we went for a burger after around the corner. Our bill for 4 people with... More

We visited here upon recommendation of our hotel concierge and were not disappointed. We chose the 6 course tasting menu from start to finish it was an absolute experience. From the lobster cappuccino to the beef to the cotton candy tree desert, every course was not only ingeniously presented but a treat to the tastebuds. Our concierge had even mentioned... More

Definitely hands down one of the best meals and service ever. They say it is #2 in the world. I can't imagine what #1 could be compared to this. Truly a dining experience of pure excellence

Our group, my husband and another couple, recently visited Montreal and at the last minute made reservations for dinner on Friday night. Europea is located among several other fine restaurants in a pretty area of town. Start with cocktails and relax; the upstairs dining room has nice tables near the window. We all four chose the prix fixe menu with... More

My husband and I ate at Europea on a Friday night. It was quite the experience from beginning to end. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The food was delicious of course but what makes this restaurant so special are the waiters and the never ending taste samplings sent out by the chef. I ordered the sea bass and my husband... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
