Yes, this place is very hyped, but I will tell you that it is worth it. I found the menu stimulating, the wine list imaginative, the service crisp and the atmosphere loud but that's great too...Love the energy in this place. I had duck carpaccio that knocked me out and the Pied Cochon (smothered pig leg). A reservation is a... More

We made a reservation several weeks in advance and could only get seats at the bar. That was fine though, the seats were comfortable and we were entertained by the bartender making the drinks. I was very excited to order duck in a can as I love both duck and fois gras. When the can arrived to my table and... More

If you are in Montreal, and can get a reservation this is a must do. It is a wonderful combination of an overtly French style with the occasional British reference, much like Montreal itself. My only wish was that I had two stomachs.

Treat your groups well or don't book them Table of 10, booked months ahead. shoved into a back alcove where, by ourselves, might have been enough room but to put another table of 8 next to us so we could not even move our chairs. Ventilation was non existent so the waiter kindly opened the back door - to allow... More

After enjoying this restaurant incredibly a year ago, I booked a table for my colleagues at this restaurant. I raved about the restaurant and told them what a treat was in wait for them. Well, what a disappointment! We arrived promptly at 7:00 and by 8:30 still had not even been served our appetizers. The excuse was it was a... More

FOIE GRAS POUTINE - best poutine I've tried in Montreal and Toronto. The flavor of the foie gras paired with the cheese and gravy is heavenly. This resturant is not for the faint hearted, Au pied de cochon is made for serious meat/seafood lovers. I saw a table order a huge 10+lb lobster... must try next time. I also saw... More

We had another great meal at Au Pied de Cochon on father's day. My husband had been wanting to go there for ever to try their pig's head (yes you heard right) and I had ordered that in advance. Even though I reserved a few days in advance we only got seats at the bar. It was a bit cramped... More

I don't know how you categorize this place so I'll call it french fusion. Great selection of custom, crafted drinks (fresh raspberry mojito). More choices for foie gras than anyone really needs. Raw bar (oysters, clams, etc). We had a lobster roll with avacodo and foie gras on top, the mixed grill of various porks (including blood sausage) and a... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
