Guillaume was the perfect host for our first evening in Montreal. He took the time to translate the menu items for us and he even did a little show and tell when he passed by our table with other guests meals that were ready. All of the meals that our table ordered were delicious. I had the filet mignon. It... More

Great experience. Food is really good. Some great classics (tartare, duck mousse, foie gras, duck confit). Ask owner Guillaume, who is always there, what to order... you will not be disapointed ! Always a great time and you can bring your own wine !

I don't wanna judge too hard because we were a big group and filled almost the place - but the boudin was too flavoured, the duck a little overcooked and the desert was a real joke - We paid 120$ for something real average (or below) in a bring your own wine...

This is a great French restaurant that is bring your own wine (no corking fee). The food is much better than most traditional French places and the presentation is superb! The place use to be much smaller and always full - unfortunately it seems people don't know it's there because there were some empty tables when we went. The menu... More

You don't just come here for supper, you come here to spend a lovely evening! The beauty of this restaurant, is not being in a hurry. You take the time to exchange with Guillaume. It's a family own restaurant, the owner, his wife and sister serve you with a smile, the best filet mignon, mousse de foie de canard, price is reasonable and you can bring your favorite wine. The ambiance is cozy and zen. Nice place to bring your lover, your friends and family

They moved to larger facilities a few years back and the menu has changed for the better. A BYOB still going strong for almost two decades with a loyal client base from the Plateau Mont-Royal as well as from outside of Montreal Island.

We've been enjoying Au Petit Resto's wonderful French cuisine for 16 years (including many birthdays and anniversaries) and have never been disappointed. The owner, Guillaume, makes you instantly welcome and the menu (which changes periodically) always presents interesting new dishes while retaining old favourites. Our personal favourites include the confit de canard (duck) with shoestring fries and Poutine Au Petit... More

Au Petit Resto have a new chef since a couple of months, and how things have changed! She cooks the classics with her own twist, and will almost certainly come by your table for a quick chat and to have your comments. Hot smoked salmon is great, as is the liver mousse, and the beef carpaccio. Duck confit is a... More

First of all the service is unbelievably slow. And we saw the chefs hanging out in the kitchen, chatting and having beers... The starter was some kind of "potage" but it tasted like the water they had blanched the veggies in - without salt though. Around 40 minutes passed between the starters and the main course. (Even though we got... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
