My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant based on the menu and photos from the website. We later found out it was Taste of Montreal the weekend we were in the city and they were a participating venue - thankfully! I emailed the week of our anticipated dinner for reservations and they emailed back within the hour to let me... More

Traveling with friends, we stopped into this cute little bar/restaurant to simply enjoy a glass of champagne from the large selection they had on the menu outside. It turned into one of our most fun afternoons! For the purchase price of one bottle, easily shared by 4, one of us had the opportunity to learn how to open the bottle... More

Like others have said we tried getting a table here last Saturday night but they were busy and fully booked. We made a reservation for Sunday night instead and went here last night. They are very friendly, efficient and are happy to assist you with their extensive drink menu and food menu. I tried the duck special and my wife... More

I was surprised and excited to find out you can learn this awesome party trick (opening a champagne bottle with a knife) at La Champagnerie! They were excellent teachers and made sure you got it right, in a safe and friendly environment. Amazing and can't wait to do it at home! Food and selection of wines and bubbles was also... More

This place was very close to our accommodation in old Montreal and after we walked by we decided to go back in for a glass of bubbles to kick off our evening. The place was very busy given it was a Saturday night, but we were able to get a spot at the bar without a reservation. A, fantastic choice... More

Many choices by the glass as well as bottles. Perfect small plates to pair. The bartenders are very warm and engaging. Perfect per dinner stop. Can't wait to come back!

We went on a Friday night and it was crowded with very loud music played by a DJ. We were looking for a romantic spot to enjoy some champagne. Enjoyed some different appetizers and champagne but it was not the scene we were looking for.

You're absolutely right: weekend evenings are pretty loud at La Champagnerie, which is great if that's what you're looking for... We recommend you come back on a weekday evening or for happy hour. Hope you will! More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
