Happened on to Soupe Soupe because we wanted to try the very popular brunch spot up the street (forget the name) but the wait was an hour and I don't care if you're serving $100 bills, waiting an hour outside in the cold for food isn't my cup of tea. We arrived at Soupe Soupe just as they were opening... More

The menu offer was really quite good, but were they just having a bad day or was the service always that erratic: water with no glasses, soup with no spoon and a long wait for service?

I really like this small place. The food is healthy, nice people, nice atmosphere, nice decoration. It is relax and comfortable. I tried different salads and they were all excellent.

This was a stop on our Mile End Food Tour. We stopped here for dessert and it was delicious!! We had their "Famous Soupe Soup Poudding Chomeur." It would be a sin for me to tell you it's a bread pudding, but that's the basis, and then they added maple syrup and what a dish!!! This was fabulous! It was... More

Good strong coffee and huge latte. Tasty breakfast scones made a great start to my day. Very acceptable!

We have been to the 1228, rue Saint-Denis branch of the SoupSoupe chain a number of times. A bit of the beaten path, every time that we have visited the restaurant has been quiet. The exposed brick, the Cuban film posters on the wall, the long benches on one side of the restaurant and the hand-written menu on the blackboard,... More

Paid $14 for a small mediocre salad. It was supposed to come with chicken but had only 3 sad slices. The prices on the menu were not the same as the prices that showed up on our receipt. Will not be back.

Opened at 11:00 am, arrived at 11:15 00am, nice and smiling staff, not totally ready, but so kind. I have tested soup, sandwich and warm salted muffin, all three were goods! Highly recommended without reservation for a light lunch!

We had lunch with a group of 9. We especially enjoyed the possible combinations of the soups, sandwiches and salads, which were not ordinary and very tasty. The service was also attentive and friendly.

We came here for dinner and some of the items had been sold out however the soups and salad that we did have as excellent. The only staff member on duty was very helpful translating the menu to English and handling the busy restaurant. I would definitely come again.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
