Let me start by saying that based on the amazing reviews I decided to give the restaurant a try. I first checked the website and the menu looked good, I wanted to try the Grillot des îles but when you get there, there is no menu, only what is written on the board is offered, So I decided to take... You won't be disappointed. We had chicken, both social and peanut, and they were lovely, along with plantain and rice. And a small salad. Very good value. warm night so we sat in the small terrase in the back...quiet and romantic. Coffee not very good but that's life.

Going here is an experience - not just a meal. It's not for when you are in a hurry. The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate. Mother Afrika is behind the curtain preparing each plate individually. The menu is printed on a board and changes from day to day. We ordered one of everything. A highly recommended adventure. Bon appetit!

The chicken was delicious, so soft and tender. The lamb was also cooked perfectly. But overall the <adies who run this small resaurant are very warmhearted and great hosts. Welcoming youwith a tasty mango juice. I would recommend this place one hundred percent. I'ts something different from the usual steak, or asian or hip and trendy restaurants around......

Went to Gracia Afrika, an African restaurant. No menu, only what's on the specials board. Owner is really lovely and does the cooking too. It's a bring your own wine place and not expensive at all. We Both had samosas to start with red pepper and onion. Then mrs W had goat in a sauce which she raved about; I... More

Hubby and I ate here last night and it was very tastey. We each received 2 home made samosas served with a small slice of onion & red pepper with a dash of dressing. Yummy Hubby then had chicken with peanut butter sauce and I had goat stew. Both were served with chili rice and salad. This is not a... More

Dinner at a friends house.... You get the food when it's ready, maybe in an hour or so... Nothing before, and nothing after.... The food is pretty good, but you 've had better... The restaurant seats 20 and very noisy when full. It may seem cute when the waitress and the cook are one and the same but don't expect... More

After reading the great reviews of the African and Creole food at Gracia Afrika on Trip Advisor I just had to check it out myself. A friend and I went on a recent Wednesday and discovered first hand that the positive reviews of other diners were indeed merited. We arrived at the opening time of 5:30 p.m. and chose where... During my recent visit to Montreal, I discovered two restaurants and I feel obligated to recommend them to all. The first one is Gracia Afrika. This tiny Congolese restaurant is an excellent choice for those who are familiar with African cuisine as well as those who would like to discover it. The restaurant is owned and operated by one person.... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
