While staying downtown, I visited the Pain Dore location on Rue Peel 3 mornings in a row and got the same thing: the Bluette Viennoisse pastry. If I had 3 more days to stay I would have gotten the same! A better pastry I've never eaten in my life; its just another reason to anxiously await my next trip up... More

Very impressed with this bread and pastry shop that comes a long way. Croissant was the best! Their coffee was way better than I expected. We bought some croissant to go but they did not go very far. We were empty handed when we got to our car.

We popped into the bakery after the Jean Talon Market today - we planned a dinner at the apartment with local foods. The bakery smelled so wonderful. We got a typical french bread (not a baguette, but the larger pain Francais) and a cream filled croissant the looked just beautiful. The bread was good, but in a city of wonderful... More

Reminded me so much of Paris - they had the most wonderful French pastries and sandwiches. There is an upstairs area to sit and people-watch out the window, or at a table. Try a mokachino and the Croque Monsieur. Delicious! Prices were quite reasonable, too.

It was my breakfast and brunch place for 2 of the 3 days I stayed in Montreal. Delicious pastries, yummy macarons, and huge and with a big variety of sandwiches and wraps. You should try it for sure.

We go to the location at 1415 rue Peel. The baked goods are fabulous. I like to bring items back to my hotel for breakfast. I brought a box of goodies back to NYC this time. They also have frozen croissants to bake at home! EXCELLENT BAKERY!!!

Stopped in for a coffee and bought two perfect pastries. A buttery rich croissant and a blueberry cream cheese danish. YUM. Just YUM. This bakery KNOWS how to bake. Highly recommend for a quick breakfast bite and a walk around the neighborhood.

I believe it's part of a chain, but it has that small business feel. We stopped in for lunch, which was delicious and decided that we had to try some pastries. I ended up walking out with six additional cookies-that's how good they were! There's a high probability that I'll be dreaming about those cookies for quite a while.

We were starving and couldn't find a place that was open when we stumbled on this shop. I believe it is part of a chain. the croissants were great as was the coffee. They also served quiches and breakfast pastries. Looked like it was set up for great lunch items

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
