I am a chili freak and have tasted some really good ones but the Chili at Bofinger was by far the worst I ever had . I even had chili from a can that tasted better while I was in the Canadian army during the 80's .It tasted as if the beans that were caned were not even rinsed off... More

We visited bofinger barbecue in Montreal for my son's eighth birthday last week. The ambience is a bit cold for my liking it didn't feel warm and soulful barbecue because of the Darkwood and open concept but the color scheme the warmth of the soul food vibe just wasn't there for me, And a huge letdown for me was the... Being the stereotypical American I was feining for some BBQ food. Probably other BBQ shops in the city, but for some reason every time I stay out in MontreaI go here. Could be the location since its usually so close to the hotel that we generally stay at. The beef ribs are pretty good and they give a variety of... More

This is definitively a vey very bad place to waist money and time... We went to their brunch in Parc Ave. The restaurant was totally empty. The food was not fresh at all... the two staffs were just kidding and not working at all.. Once again, the food quality was terrible..I will never go back again in this terrible place....

When you think Montheal, you think smoked meat, not pulled pork, but Bofinger carved itself a little niche in its native neighbourhood of N.D.G. and blew up from there, now it's a Montreal staple, it's opened 3 more locations, and started a whole movement. Delicious

I took a budy out for a BBQ lunch for two . I was embarrassed because the quality of the food was simply terrible . I suspect we were given left overs or food that was old . The plate we purchased consisted of hard dried out ribs ...tasteless sausages...canned beans...patato salad that had taken on the smell of whatever... More

My friends and have been going to the NDG location for years, my review will pertain to that location only. It is, after all, the original location for the four store chain. Parking close by can be a challenge, yet the pork ribs and fries are good enough to keep us coming back. The meat is smoked the day before,... More

When Bofinger arrived on the Montreal scene years ago I was ecstatic, finally BBQ in Montreal. Ate here at least 8 -10 times, each time I kept hoping for an improvement but alas, none was to come. Was willing to overlook them grilling their smoked ribs on a grill with last minute basting which no self respecting BBQ joint would... More

I think the prior bad reviews were because this is primarily a lunch spot. If you catch it during a high turnover time it is fine, but food gets dry when no one is there. In the evening I suggest Rubs which has a summer outdoor terrace, on Prince Arthur, a short cab ride away.

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
