We have been to past Café pavé many times, but have never been in. Why did we wait? We went in for lunch. We had the Wrap Gaspé and the Pavé Sicilia with the soup of the day. You order at the counter, are given a number with your utensils and take a seat. The soup came first -- the... More

Loved this place, sandwiches were absolutely awesome. Nice ambiance and super helpful staff. We just did take out, but I would certainly go back.

There is something for everyone to love here. The bread is really good but the fillings take center stage. The meat lovers as well as the vegie lovers were very happy. Anything with pesto spread all over the sandwich is a sure hit. Service was friendly and efficient. On the day we visited butternut squash was the soup and it... More

I've been to this place quite a few times for lunch. The sandwiches are very good and come with a soup or salad. The soups are pretty tasty and overall I recommend this place. There only 2 things I would warn you about. 1. The special of the day is not very good, regardless of the day. These are to... More

I had looked up a place near the Old Port for lunch with a gluten free option. It was hard to also include kid friendly. Sure enough I saw this place and I wasn't disappointed. They were fast from the get go. I was able to call 1 hr before and reserve a table for 15. The options were excellent... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. All ingredients at the restaurant are locally sourced and all sandwiches and soups taste so fresh! I would love to get back to this place in the future. Customer service is also amazing.

I work in the Old Montreal and I know by experience that almost every lunch restaurants (aside from food courts) will run you at least 20$ for a simple appetizer and your lunch. To me, Cafe Pave is just straight the best value you can get for lunch. Of course there are cheaper options, but will usually not be as... More

Butternut squash soup was served garnished with Goldfish crackers and was very tasty. Pulled pork sandwich was delicious and just the right size. Prices very reasonable, the restaurant is small but comfortable. Order at the counter and sit at a nice rustic-style table. A very short walk from Notre Dame Basilica.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
