We expected a traditional sit down middle eastern restaurant, but this tiny, colourful place is more of a hipstery, eclectic, casual, creative reinvention of middle eastern foods that you order up front at the cash and wait to receive. We had the Roma - hot beef, spicy eggplant, tangy veggies and cabbage on a rounded long panini, which was just... More

Abu Elias move aside. The lads at omnivore have found a way of making authentic Arabic food "hip". Very tasty meat and chicken sandwiches. My wife raves about the veggie, but I've yet to try it. I really like the twists on Arabic classics and different cooking cultures. The Thai and Bombay skewers are delicious. But they shine with their... More

Very casual place but complex flavors. We all had sandwiches, they were great. The chocolate banana dessert was to die for!

Fresh, delicious, lovely food! Great service, with a friendly, helpful staff. The omnivore platter with chicken was great. My girlfriend had a spicy wrap, which was also brilliant! The food is very reasonably priced. Make note, it is a very small place, so be patient.

Definitely our #1 in Montreal. Such a nice and cozy little place...just as I like it. Very down to earth kinda atmosphere, delicious middle eastern food and super friendly staff. Although everyone seems to enjoy the kaftas, we had the herbivore plate so we could try as much as possible, since we only went there once. And dont evern get... More

We went there based on recommendations from TA. My friend and I are vegetarians so we were looking for some good Lebanese food. The hummus and the baba ghanoush were delicious and the waitress was happy to warm up the pits and the vegetarian kibbeh for us. The food was sumptuous and we enjoyed this little picturesque restaurant.

Food tastes good, it is not expensive and you have a wide selection of the dishes. Wraps are small though, so I would suggest a main dish with a varied mixed salad, rice and meat/chicken sticks. They're good Budget wise is not bad. Things to work on: the facility itself isn't the cleanest around, given that a food place ought... More

This a favourite place of ours in Montreal. We live around the corner and eat here at least a couple of times a month. Simply delicious Middle-Eastern dishes. The fatoosh is the best in town, and the aubergine puree and garlic sauce as well. Amazing Hummous. The meat is ethically sourced and wonderfully tender. Generous portions, too. This is probably... Met a friend for lunch. Inside is small, with a few tables. You order at the counter; the staff will bring it to your table. Nice selection of fresh salads, grilled chicken or beef, sandwiches. Opted for the "Omnivore Lunchbox Special", (chicken option) which came with grilled chicken (very moist and tender) mixed green salad, rice with lentils, toum (garlic)... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
