This was recommended by locals so we had to try it... ;-) Being from the UK originally, we were a bit dubious, but actually it was really very good indeed... the fish were both excellent and the batter superb... the mushy peas were nothing like English ones (actually they were better!). I didn't think the chips were very authentic, but... More

Fish was terrific -- we tried three varieties, and all three were top-notch. Felt very authentic. Space is cramped, but that actually adds to the feeling of authenticity. Taking off one star because the bathrooms left something to be desired. Also, it is on the pricey end -- $60 for three of us, but we had drinks and an appetizer.... More

Great variety of batter and adequate portions. Batter was light and crisp, and didn't leave a greasy aftertaste. Service was quick and very polite. Highly recommended for the fish and chips enthusiast.

THe title says what you really want to know when you go looking for fish and chips in Montreal. The fish was nice (a little on the small side compared to England) but the chips were super tasty. But that's generally true in Montreal - well cooked, browned and good enough to eat with or without vinegar! They serve something... More

The tartar sauce is amazing. The variety of fish they offer is fresh and varied! Their batter recipe fits with a more delicate diet and isn't greasy or overly battered to take away the deliciousness of the fish! Well worth the visit and lunch!

Small restaurant, though they do have a few tables outside in the summer. Excellent fish and chips - could not fault it - and unlike a British chippy, you can have wine or beer as well. What's not to like?

if you enjoy English style fish and chips, make sure to hit this place when in Montreal. The fish is made fresh before your eyes. Tap beer is good and cold to wash down your meal. First come, first serve on seating.

Large portions, good variety of fresh fish, clean, great service, and well worth the visit. I had the haddock in maple syrup batter and my husband had sole in sour cream and onion batter. We shared our meals and it was perfect. Added bonus - the house beer was excellent. Highly recommend!

They had good flavor and variety in the types of fish and chips they offered. The restaurant is small so during busy times you may have to wait a bit for a table or counter. Pricing was decent. I would recommend this place to get a good simple lunch.

Nice casual place if you're looking for a quick delicious meal. It was probably the best Fish & Chips I've ever had, the service was extremely fast and the staff were very friendly!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
