For foodies like myself, this was a fantastic experience. Menu is unique, changing as seasonal "Canadian" items are available. Tapas style even the dishes on the pricier side. Everything was delicious

went with friends for our first dinner in Montreal on Tuesday night. Nice atmosphere and fair service as the place was understaffed and 1/2 empty. First course, two of us had the liver mouse which was beautifuly presented and superb. I had the asparagus and clams which was awful. Three asparagus, 1/2 tsp of chopped clams, mushrooms charred to be... More

The service and food are superb. Very attentive to the table needs. The appetizers were different and succulent. Goat cheese Sal's very nice, but the lamb tartar was insane! The venison appears to be small portion but the hidden surprise of the venison collar wrapped in a cabbage is absolutely the most delicious part of the dish. Very hidden though.... More

Went here through the snow and rain to be rewarded by an excellent evening. The food was good, the service every bit as good and we enjoyed some superb French wine.

Les 400 coups is an amazing restaurant they do not have a lot on the menu which is a good thing, but the food is so fresh and delicious. They really take good care of you from a service standpoint, presentation of the food, quality and taste. The good: 1. Food is fresh and locally sourced 2. Presentation and playing... More

We were visiting from out of town and treated a relative to dinner at this lovely place in Vieux Montreal. We were seated at the front near large windows, so if felt open and airy. If you want a cosier, more dimly lit experience, opt for the back. Our server, whose name we did not get but was a young... More

Attended for a work function and it did not meet our expectations since we were comparing it to other experiences like Boullion Bilk and Chez L'Epicier which we found excellent. Liked: service staff, presentation of the food and flavour profiles, space is visually appealing and bread was fabulous Would Change: - portion size compared to other restaurants was smaller and... Went there for the Mother's Day brunch. It was a special degustation menu. Good food, small portion (but that's what you usually expect of a French cuisine) yet we were all full at the end of the meal. Food was carefully and interestingly prepared. Service was excellent and the waiter took time to explain what each dish was. Beautiful place... More

Interesting food and tasty but didn't see the "wow" factor that I heard about. The sucking pig was a bit overlooked and rather bland, relying too much on the sauces for flavour. The service was excellent and attentive though. The wines were good enough but not what I hoped for.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
