Great evening with friends visiting Montreal. Tapas to share, good wine, good service looking at the water fountains and light show on the building

Our first night in Montreal our hotel recommended this Portuguese restaurant. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. The night we were there it was 3 courses for $21 Canadian. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We go to Taverne F for supper every time we are in Montreal. Love the food and service. The waiters are always very attentive and give good advice for wine pairing. My favourite is the chocolate mousse!

We stopped in here on the off chance as it was close to our hotel. On the outside it looks a bit like a shipping container. On entering we were greeted warmly and the place was buzzing. I think the clientele were mainly locals from nearby offices on their lunch break. Our server was a totally charming young man and... More

Sitting on prime real estate next to Place des Arts, Taverne F (to use F Bar’s official name) was once one of our go-to spots for after-concert drinks and eats. Sadly, recent visits reveal it’s on a downward spiral. Dishes are still decent but no longer above-average; service is still competent but not as engaging as before. Saddest of all,... More

From what I could glean, the chef left a month ago and the kitchen is in some kind of turmoil. People all around were complaining, principally about the waiting times, but also about the end product. I saw a "pizza" delivered that was clearly burnt, and duly comp'd. Our three courses took well over two hours to deliver and it... More

I was meeting friends before a show and I made the rookie mistake of going to Taverne F instead of out meeting place Brasserie T (next door) I was early so they were setting up. The beautiful québécoise behind the bar offered great service. I ended up having a deep conversation with 3 of them and they made me have... More

This restaurant is the little sister of Cafe Ferreira located near Quartier des Spectacles. It is a tapas style restaurant and has a great menu if you like to share. They have a fixed menu priced at $21. for 3 choices after 8pm which is plenty of food and if you add a couple of more items you have enough... More

Went here before a show at Place des Arts because it is right next door. Service (at the bar) was excellent - attentive and fast. We ordered a burger and salmon tartare and both were sadly mediocre compare to meals that we have had there on other occasions. Burger was overcooked and tartare pretty tasteless. There used to be amazing... More

It's a very trendy place. The menu that we selected was part of the Montreal à table event. It was the tapas menu. The portions in general were good. I guess the disappointing part of the menu was the "amuse bouche". They were waaaayyyy small and I would add not all that tasty. I ordered the pea purée with veggies... More

Hi Gabriela, Thanks for sharing your experience! We are glad you enjoyed it. We took note of your comment on the amuse-bouche, we will definitely keep it in mind for the next MTL à Table event. In the mean time, you should come back to try our after 8pm menu: 3 choices of petiscos for 21$. Thanks again for taking... More

Description
Taverne F is Ferreira's new born from the Ferreria group. Located in the heart of the effervescent Quartier des Spectacles, in a luminous and relaxed atmosphere, Taverne F is a must for all foodies. Chef offers a savoring petiscos menu - word for portuguese version of tapas - in which he favors fresh market produce with a Portuguese touch! His inspiration? 'I hope to offer our clients perfumed, light and typical Mediterranean dishes, a region where I come from, along with Portuguese accents in which olive oil will be my sole instrument!' He explains with enthusiasm. The service is friendly and discreet which adds to the wonderful dining experience at Taverne F.

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
