My wife and I picked Quattro for a Wednesday evening. It was chosen permit based on reviews and partly because of its proximity to our hotel. The ambiance was delightful, but the food was fantastic. We were very pleased with the service which was prompt and attentive without smothering the diners. Our overall opinion places it among the best restaurants... More

Anniversary dinner. We went here based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! Brought out gluten free bruschetta and a bun which I devoured as I'm always sitting there watching everyone else munch on bread and say how hungry they are! Had the seafood risotto and it was really good, with lots of seafood. We were going to have... More

Right in the Old Port area, Quattro is a relaxed, attractive and friendly place to have an excellent Italian dinner. Unlike many city restaurants, it was quiet enough to actually be able to talk to your dinner companions. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the menu offered enough choices for everyone to find dishes they were excited about. And... More

Over priced for what it is. In a very touristy area, maybe this is a good as you can expect? Cozy atmosphere. Food was good but not exceptional. Mushroom Risotto was very flavourful but slightly undercooked - for a $30 non-meat main, one expects better. Pastas tasty and fresh. Arugula salad good but not $18 worth of good. We were... More

One of the top Italian restaurants in Montreal. Great service - Steve our waiter, was the right blend of friendly and efficient. We all ordered pastas: gnocchi (on request, the Chef prepared with a white cheese sauce), the sausage penne, and ragu. All were delicious! The complimentary bruschetta before the meal was superb. We would definitely recommend!

We made our 8:30 pm reservations for 4 at the minute. We were warmly welcomed and seated. The decor is simple . However the tables are tightly packed together.Noise level can be high. Ceasar salads were good and so was the gnocchi .The braised lamb was tender but lacking a little in taste ,the tiramisu for dessert was ok a... More

The place was packed but they were able to accommodate us two at a nice table with no waiting. Who, I guess, he is the owner came and talked to us about Italy and Canada and why he ended up to Montreal from his home region Abruzzo in Italy. Octopus for starter made to perfection , lovely filet steak with... More

After a full day of touring we were looking for a cozy, charming restaurant. We definitely found it at Quattro. We were warmly greeted by the owner and quickly served delicious bruschetta. The restaurant is small enough to feel intimate, yet big enough to seem lively. We had a wonderful dinner and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for... More

The Gnocchi with meat sauce, easy substitution was the best I have ever had! Spaghetti with Fruitte de Mer was unbelievably delicious. Great Bruchetta, bread and the house wines were perfect. Don't pass this perfect Italian Restaurant up! A little taste of Italy in Montreal! Merci!!!!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
