We stopped in last night & were immediately & warmly greeted. In fact, every person working at this restaurant was friendly and prompt. However, the food was a disappointment. Every dish was so-so, at best. Too bad. The people were great.

I was looking to have a good Italian dinner with my family and we found Quattro to be recommended on TripAdvisor and other similar websites. We entered and the fantastic experience began. We were courteously shown to our table and were given a wide choice for drinks. Being a vegetarian, the owner of the restaurant gave us so many vegetarian... More

Delicious food, lovely ambiance and extremely attentive service...accommodated my dietary needs as well. Gluten free options are limited, but available...including restaurant-appropriate bread. Staff made our 11 year old granddaughter feel right at home.

This was on our list of possible restaurants, based on Trip Advisor reviews, and when a fellow hotel guest highly recommended it we made our reservation. I'm not sure where the negative reviews in Trip Advisor are coming from, because our experience was delightful and the food and service were excellent. One of the co-owners, Frank, was quite engaging and... More

Pastas were average at best, the veal was cardboard. Service very good, great location, the food did not justify a tab of $200.

We visited with our family of 4 for dinner. We started with the octopus appetizer and a Caesar salad for the table. The octopus was outstanding. No one was too crazy about the salad. For entrees we enjoyed the pappardelle with prosciutto, penne rosa, and pasta puttanesca. They were able to make a pasta puttanesca over gluten free pasta also.... More

We were in Old Montreal, looking for a good meal in a non-touristy restaurant, came upon Quattro & gave it a try. The salads and pasta entrees we ordered were all very good but the highlight of our evening was the charming and super attentive wait staff. We felt like regulars and all very much enjoyed our long and relaxing... More

Very disappointed with our second visit. The owner wasn't there despite being physically present. He was paying his entire attention to one table. Too bad, because last time we came in he made us feel like regulars. That said, the food is really what we came for and it was obviously an off-night. The octopus wasn't charred the way that... Place is located in a busy touristy street, that confirmed this may be an average a pricey restaurant for what the food is. The restaurant has good ambiance and the service is really impeccable. However, the food was just OK; for the price I would expect something more elaborate, more modern, more fashion. Don't get me wrong, the food was... More

We'd had a long day walking and wanted somewhere quite close to our hotel at Place d'Armes. Quattro had decent reviews and was a block away plus we called and could get in without a wait. If rating the food only i might have given the restaurant 3.5 or 4 stars. We had Pappardelle-Tomato and cream sauce, Mozzarella de Buffala,... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
