Good place for meant friends and sharing a bottle of your own wine. Food was good and high quality. Preparations were fairly bland and ordinary. The cod was a little dry as was the rabbit. I would try them again. Maybe earlier in the evening.

Let's start with the server, she was amazing - attentive, knowledgeable, charismatic and I loved the sound of her voice. One of those servers you just can't wait to tip because she cares so much about us having a great experience. Next - the food. We started with oysters, so fresh, so good just amazing. The foie gras, the soup,... More

I’ve reviewed Quartier General before, but would like to just update my enthusiasm for one of the best restaurants in Montreal. Nothing here is ordinary, and it is all affordable. Do yourself a favor, bring some wine and get the table d’hote. On our last visit, the soup was a lovely light opener, perfect for a hot August day, the... More

We dined here several years ago. At that time we were not impressed. After hearing all the accolades they receive, we decided to try again. We were four and tried a good cross section of the offerings that evening. As starters, we had the pork cheeks, tuna tataki amd the gravlox. The pork was dry, so was the seared (very... More

Each time the menu changes beautifully here. We had the pork cheek, which was tender but still had lovely density. The cod on edamame and spaetzle was light and full of flaky texture and wonderful citrus flavor. The duck breast was perfect medium rare with steak-like tender juiciness. Best service here too, attentive and efficient.

I ate here with 3 friends for the first time ever. I had been wanting to try for a long time, and I am so glad that they could squeeze us in for a 9pm seating! We were in Montreal for 6 days of vacation and this was my favorite meal. Very charming restaurant with great service and really stellar... More

From the beginning to the end our servers made sure that we enjoyed a great dining experience. They were all pleasant and easily accommodated our English friends. Our server took care to thoroughly explain their menu and properly serve the special wines that we brought (nice touch and well appreciated). Once the restaurant is full it can get a bit... More

My wife and I were looking for a new BYOW dining experience to share with two close friends, and after some on-line research we decided to try Le Quartier General. We were not disappointed. The menu differed somewhat from that posted on their website, but I suspect that has to do with what is in season and keeping things interesting... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
