Stopped in here for their breakfast sandwich special 3 days in a row while we were in town. Great value for a quick breakfast and an excellent mocha. Owner is very friendly. The sesame bagels are made locally and super tasty!

If you are into coffee stop by this place, which is close to the Cathedral. The owner was there when I stopped in and we talked about his coffee for a bit. He has his own blend and the coffee is roasted for him offsite. I had an iced coffee. The coffee flavor has heavy but not at all bitter,... More

We stopped here for lunch during a busy and hot day of sightseeing. Had chicken club sandwiches on toasted ciabatta which were super fresh and tasty. Good value for money.

Though I prefer a more earthy and less acidic espresso, this Italian blend was pretty darn good once we added 1 t sugar. We will be back for breakfast when we want a simple egg sandwich, or a panini for lunch - the prices are very, very good. We also liked the seating. It is a small place, but they... More

This cafe is a few doors past Notre Dame Cathedral. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious. The cafe was clean, very cool and the staff were friendly and courteous. What a find! You must try this cafe. I would definitely return to this place should I return to Montreal.

Start your day touring the Basillica and then walk one block away from the crowds down rue Notre Dame to this small coffee shop. The coffee was the best I had in Montreal and the pastries were also very nice. They also serviced sandwiches. Note: the cafe is VERY small and I did not see a restroom.

Cappuccinos and lattes done to perfection. Friendly, relaxing. We love local cafes and Espace is in the top 5 if not the best.

A small little cafe in a great location! The staff, especially the owner were very welcoming and kind. The food is delicious and very good value for money. The coffee is really nice too, especially the Mocha! Our son got a little treat too from the owner. Go here you won't be disappointed.

Great sandwiches and friendly service. Right down the street from the church. Took my young family after visiting Notre Dame Basilica. Would return if we came back to Montreal.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
