The food was truly a mixed bag, a beautiful entree followed by a very average main. The quality of the bavette was very poor, not seasoned and over all a very simple dish. There i think the problem lies, many of the dishes are simply unexciting, both in taste and visual appearance. The service was good without being great. The... More

It was our first time at this restaurant. Little French bistro and bring your own wine. Excellent food. . The cuisine is absolutely marvelous. I recommend this restaurant which I will go back to very soon. The food, service and ambiance is excellent.

They offered a 6 course meal for $48 CDN with quite a few choices. The tuna appetizer and ratte potatoe with anchovy were quite good. The foie gras marinated with red beets was original and tasty but served with stale fruit and chocolate bread. Trou Normand (mango/vodka) was delicious and the bavette of Angus beef was perfectly cooked and tasty.... More

Monsieur has been for the past 3 years one of my favorite restaurant by far. The food has a good flavor balance, interesting taste and Ive always been well served even if the place is small. I recommend this restaurant to someone that wants to try new flavor, that like fusion French food, and enjoying eating a good fancy meal,... More

This is a small restaurant sitting about 30 people, so you may want to reserve well in advance. The food is absolutely exquisite. The degustation menu at $48 is outstanding. the dishes are original, very delicate and presented with taste. The service is outstanding. The waitress was gracious, attentive to our needs and wants and very effective. The only negative... More

It is the tiniest of restaurant and the staff is well versed in their culinary expertise and the FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING! Parking is difficule but would be worth even a parking ticket!

This is a unique French restaurant in the middle of the plateau section of Montreal. We had not been able to get a reservation on short notice in the past so we made our Friday night dinner reservation 2 nights in advance. The chef is very talented, the quality of the dishes and the presentation are both excellent. The pea... More

This is a small but cosy BYOW resto in the heart of the plateau, just off St. Denis. The Maitre-d is also the waiter so when it gets busy (which is most of the time) you may need to get his attention. Pleasant service in all. Food was imaginative and very well executed, overall quite delicious. The menu is limited... More

While staying at a downtown hotel on a recent family vacation, we asked our concierge for a favorite local "neighborhood" restaurant, away from the more touristy Old City. She recommended Monsieur B as one of her favorites, and we were not disappointed. We were surprised that they could only give us a 9pm reservation, but we took it. When we... More

We took our 2 teenage boys here for the french dining experience. The restaurant was recommended by our guide from the gastronomical tour that we took earlier in the week. We were lucky to get in. We showed up @ 6 on a weekday night, without a reservation. And she said we could stay if we promised to be out... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
