I have dined in many Montreal restaurants but Vieux-Port is by far the best I have experienced. The atmosphere and service are impeccable. The dinner was beyond compare. Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. I would recommend dining here to anyone.

While on a short vacation in Montreal, we visited the Old Port region and happened to stop at the steakhouse. They were just opening so we were the first customers. They had a $15 lunch special where you got an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. I opted for the Turkey Vegetable soup (great), the steak entree (great) and chocolate... More

Open schedule, good for tourists, offer a good ambiance and fair food. The steaks are well cooked and the lobster tail might be better if they avoid the garlic in the melted butter. A good option id you are hungry about 3 pm

Great meal for the price ($23 for table d'hôte), reasonably priced wines ($31 a bottle), decent service and great atmosphere.

The atmosphere at this quaint steakhouse is lovely. We sat by a functioning fireplace and listened to the firewood crackle. We had Filet Mignon and have never had a better steak. The Creme Brûlée was creamy and light.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
