C. Chartranel was an excellent server. The place was very busy and she cared exceptionally well for her tables. The food tasted great and the menu offered a variety for all pallettes.

Really enjoyed our dinner at the Vieux-Port Steakhouse in Old Montreal. It was not our first choice for dinner but several of the French restaurants in the area were closed on Monday night. We sat in the quiet terrace area and enjoyed service by our amusing waiter Michael. The steaks were very good as was the appetizer of escargot au... More

We decided to try this steak house because we didn't want to wait for 1hr for the Keg, which is just next door. This turned out to be a great decision! The sirloin steak and bone-in rib steak were cooked perfectly. The crab cake was also delicious. The service was also great. The price is reasonable for a steak house.... More

Fantastic place: very nice interior and beautiful terrace, perfect service and great food. The quality of the steaks is simply amazing. Not the cheapest restaurant but worth every dollar.

This restaurant has excellent food, a great atmosphere and the service was amazing. We were a group of 6 and ordered a variety of dishes, and everyone was pleased with their choice. We enjoyed great steak, fish, seafood and wine. We sat outside in their large patio and if we would have stayed there until 9pm, we would have been... More

I'm a bit biased as we chose to get married here but I think that automatically shows how delicious the food is and how good the service is at the Vieux-port Steakhouse. The steak is delicious and I'd definitely choose here over the neighbouring Keg, if not just for the fact that you're contributing to a locally owned and proud... More

We were in a group of 38 people, some had steaks, some salmon and some had chicken these were served with mixed vegetables. The steaks look great and were a good cut of meat, the ones in our group said that they were cooked just like they had ordered. The salmon was delicious and was large enough for a hearty... More

I must admit we went here and everything worked. The waiter seated us at the window looking at the street and he continued to serve us in a friendly helpful way. We went between 5 and 6PM and they had a special rate before 6 that included entrée and main course. My steak was perfectly cooked and all 4 of... More

More than a restaurant, we're an institution. Quality cuts, cooked to perfection for over three decades. All our beef is AAA Canadian Certified and aged for at least 30 days.

You'll love the classic atmosphere, warm and welcoming. We're situated directly on St. Paul Street in a beautiful, century-old structure.

Inside, you're greeted by old stone walls, wood floors, cozy fireplaces and an attentive staff.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
