A quick taxi ride from the city center brought us to this cozy, warm bistro where we were delightfully served by owner/hostess. I couldn't resist the smoked salmon appetizer altho was tempted by the escargot which my husband ordered. Both were presented beautifully and were excellent.Filet of medium rare veal and Steak w/ Frites were superb and left no room... More

Absolutely everything was wonderful! The decor and ambiance, the service by the hostess/owner, and the food preparation by the chef/owner were all superb! We were treated to an amazing cod appetizer by the chef-the taste and texture were so unique, you were asking yourself, "what IS that?"...in a good way! The French onion soup and escargot were also outstanding. Then... More

We were on a business trip to Montreal and we wanted great French cuisine but also a restaurant that would be sensitive to my celiac disease. We found just that at Bistro Duo D! It is run by a lovely creative couple who take the time to get to know their patrons as they dine. I have many allergy issues... More

As I walked into the artistic eatery I noticed the majority of the tables are reserved and the warm ambiance. I ordered a French standard, Steak Frites medium rare. The fries were done perfectly. The steak was done deceptively well. The Angus cut was lean and cooked to a slight pinkish color almost well done. Normally this is a fail... More

I have been reading excellent critics from this "bistro de quartier" and willing to try it with friends and my husband. We did a different dishes selection: I had "foie gras" and confit de canard. Both were good but not exceptional or very good. The "foie gras" was too dense and probably not freshly done. The "escargots a l'ail" that... More

We were looking for a place for a classic French dining experience on our last night in Montreal and found this restaurant on tripadvisor, and it was the perfect choice. This is a comfortable bistro with personal service by the owners. We had the Cod and Duck Confit, both were excellent. The duck was the best I have ever had.... More

The other positive reviews are spot on. This place is great. I found the husband and wife team to be charming and wonderfully engaging. The food was classic French and very well done. The beef tartare was the best I've ever had. The dick was as good as claimed: perfectly crispy. The desserts were good, but I would either pass... More

I am so glad my wife found this place. It is owned and completely run by a husband and wife, with no other staff! They do an amazing job, the service was impeccable, and the meal even better! I seriously recommend this place for a 5 star dinner with very affordable pricing!

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
