We discovered this lovely spot on a very cold day in February. We needed a late lunch in a cozy room and this restaurant delivered both needs. We enjoyed the Paris atmosphere, the servers were prompt and pleasant and the food was very good. I had an omelette and my husband had a delicious home-made soup. No crowds on this... More

We were a group of eight and we went there for a dinner. The service was very bad, waiters are not friendly, no air condition, no music, we loved the food but the atmosphere in general was very bad. Before we pay the bill, the waiter came to us and say that for a table of 8 people an appropriate... More

On a rainy day in late June, we were as hungry as wolves, so being in the Laurier West neighbourhood, we decided to stop at La Petite Ardoise. We hadn't been there in ages. We arrived at around 1:30 p.m. and most of the noon patrons had finished. Our waitress was delightful and our meals (light noon-day fare) exceeded our... More

We loved the food and the atmosphere of this wonderful French bistro. The menu was in French only, but our server was very helpful in translating as needed.

We used to go there a couple of times a year but the last 2 times we went, we were very disappointed. The last time we went there, we waited an hour before our plates were brought and the waitress didn't apologize. People that arrived several minutes after us got their food way before us. There was even a waitress... More

It looks nice, the waiters are nice, but the food is indigestible. It took hours for the stomach ache to go away. Don't go here!

My husband and I stumbled upon this place while trying to avoid Eggspectation and waiting for Dieu du Ciel to open. It was absolutely packed at 12PM on a Saturday. We were lucky to get a high table in the bar area immediately. The mimosas were wonderful and made with fresh squeezed OJ. All of the dishes on the menu... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
