Upon entering, you notice how small this place is. It has 6 tables and seats a total of 18 people. Although small, the atmosphere is cozy. This place is romantic without being stuffy of pretentious. The food is Asian fusion. Mix of miso with fish mix with greens and sauce. As an entree we had the salad which was various... More

We went into the restaurant, there were only about five tables, which immediately made me a little nervous, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The wait staff was personable, friendly and knowledgable. The chef made top shelf food and even made us a surprise off the menu. Probably the longest I have ever stayed in a restaurant and it... One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long and colourful life. The meal was exceptional, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere enchanting. A true delight on a small side-street of Montreal. Do not miss a chance to eat here!

Our first surprise was how small and informal/casual the restaurant is. It is tiny, with just the chef and one waiter for about 6 tables. The waiter was friendly and helpful. The food, Asian/Japanese was quite remarkable, tasty and with unusual preparations. I had salmon (cooked) and my wife a duck dish. Both were masterpieces of art to see, and... More

After reading the reviews, I decided to book a reservation and try this place during our 4 day visit to Montreal. This restaurant is located in Marie-Anne in what felt more of a residential area. It is small but efficient. There is only a server and the chef who can be seen cooking from your table. The food was beautifuly... More

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Montreal. It is usually closed on Sun and Mon. However, with our special request, the owner opened the place for us on Sunday. We were not the only customers there either. It was a rather small restaurant with enough seats for 12 customers (which means reservation is highly recommended). We had a full... More

My girlfriend and I spent 6 days in Montreal. We tried quite a few restaurants recommended by guide books and trip advisor. The restuarant and the food that made a lasting memory was at Toroli. This small restaurant was on a side street in the Mont Royal section of Montreal. 421 Marie-Anne Est . Cuisine was fusion japonaise. We stumbled... More

It is rare that I have a meal that makes me go 'wow', but that's exactly what I said after eating here. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Montreal, or even Canada. The Black Cod was delicious. The service is also excellent and prices quite reasonable. If you come on a weekend be sure to make reservations as it... More

We visited this gem of a restaurant during a recent short trip to Montreal based on the previous TripAdvisor reviews. I am so glad we did. I normally prefer top-quality "straightforward" dishes, but our meal at Toroli made me "get" elaborate cooking. The presentation and quality was second to none, but it was the way the textures and flavours came... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
