One of the few Asian restaurants that are vegan and vegetarian friendly. Their noodles are delicious! It isn't authentic Chinese food, however, it is delicious commercial Chinese food. The staff is very friendly, great service!

I'm new to Montréal but grew up on real Chinese cuisine. After disappointments with larger, more expensive restos in Chinatown, I finally mustered the courage to try this humble eatery. And was not disappointed. Authentic, inexpensive, friendly, speedy, kid-friendly all describe this gem. I don't know if it's Montréal best Chinese, but for value-for-money it's hard to beat.

Its a small restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. Price is fairly affordable, quite for a quick bite. The General Tao is a must. Its the best in town cant find any authentic than this place!

This restaurant was suggested to us by a local from Montreal and perhaps what we ordered was wrong but....it was not for us. The staff were lovely and we were seated immediately. The food came very quickly but lacked taste and I was worried about the cleanliness of the place. Nevertheless - I thought I was going to lose a... More

Do people really have no shame. 3 items ordered, Singapore noodles, Shallot Pancakes and fried Bean Curd. Let's start with the best. The Bean Curd was oily and rather tasteless. The Shallot Pancakes oily, gluggy with sparse amounts of shallots. Now for the Singapore Noodles, well let's put it this way, you can't put a BMW badge on an old... More

Found this place through trip advisor which was conveniently located across from my hotel on a recent business trip. The reviews are all spot on - this place is excellent, super fast, friendly and well priced. I had the hot and sour soup, shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings, all delicious and for only $10. Definitely worth a visit - I'd... More

Hosts of a B&B in Roberval had recommended this tiny restaurant in the Chinese neighbourhood in Montreal. My husband and I nearly walked by it, as the restaurant is situated on the first floor of an ordinary looking house. The restaurant is a no-frills place with only a few tables and an open kitchen. The boss is very witty, service... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
