I reviewed this place last August and concluded that there was no reason to return. Somehow we either forgot or hoped that we'd have a better experience this time. No. Shanghai noodle was way too salty, dumplings were too plain, General Tso chicken was ok. Service - same as last time. And, yes, cash only for payment is a pain.

My husband and I were disappointed in the food here, despite other positive reviews. The noodle dishes were bland, nothing at all special. It was inexpensive, but I would have rather paid more for something delicious. Would not recommend.

Tiny noodle house but these folks know what they are doing. Place was packed when we arrived for an early dinner, but we only had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table. Server was very helpful with the menu and our food was ready FAST. Servings were large and the kids loved their noodles with shrimp and chicken. All 4... More

The staff was very friendly. I had a nice general tao chicken and spring rolls. The Shanghai noodles we also good. They prepared a chicken and noodle dish without sauce for my young daughters and they devoured it. This place is very busy but the turn over is fast. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. Cheap... More

Dropped in for an early dinner and to try the xiao long bao. Exceptionally good and the two of us ate for under $30. Would definitely return.

So I went to this resteraunt last night on the recommendation of trip advisor that rated it number one. Basically a very small restaurant if you wink you miss it! Pretty much a hole in the ground, rude waiter who wanted us to sit in the front by the door because he just cleaned the floor and wanted it to... More

If you're staying at the Holiday Inn select, this place is 2 minutes from there. It is Worth going out of your hotel for a bite. It is cheaper and better than your hotel's restaurant. It is not a pretty place, but it is good and cheap. I had a big pork and noodle soup for eight bucks and I... More

It is a small place I arrived shortly after... More

I regularly eat at this restaurant for lunch when I'm close to chinatown. One of my favorite chinese restaurant in Montreal. Hand made fresh noodles are very good (I usually take them with the pork option). Also, the chinese brocoli or choi sum are very good, well cooked, just al dente. My husband appreciate the general tao chicken, he thinks... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
