Went here to eat with some friends and really enjoyed it. The staff was so friendly and really helpful when I couldn't decide what to eat! Everyone enjoyed their food - I had the veggie burger and it was good. Two people had the fish and chips and loved it. The orders are big and some meals could be shared.

This trip I was "weight conscious" and somewhat nervous about visiting Le Saloon. The food and drink here is always wonderful but many, if not most, of the items are calorie laden (and worth every calorie I might add!) I had a roasted vegetable sandwich and replaced the always very good frites with a fresh fruit cup. The sandwich was... More

This is our spot when we want a good breakfast. The staff is always friendly and efficient. The eggs benedictines are cooked like they should be, the hollandaise is also very good. Their homemade jam is also delicious. The local is very trendy. In one word, I like it and will go back again and again...

We ate dinner here, on a Friday night. Ste. Catherine Street was recently closed for the summer, and the street has a block party type atmosphere. Most of the bars and restaurants have expanded outdoor seating. The service could not have been friendlier or more efficient, despite being full. All staff are upbeat and helpful. The menu is eclectic and... More

Super hip and happening modern venue - with a solid menu of pleasing QC fusion with American (and several countries) bistro cuisine - inspired cocktails, and selection of wines. Staff were enthusiastic and engaging for visitors to Montreal (in my case English speaking). Super fun space & music.

I try to stop here for dinner at least once - sometimes twice- every time I am in Montreal. The staff is always friendly, the food is very good and the atmosphere is terrific.

This really is the same as eating at any other gay bar turned eatery. Service was fine, music was loud, and lots to look at.

Let's face it, good eye candy but after several visits the food ranges from average to not good. Ordered the pizza for a change, the worst I ever had. Way better choices than this within a short walk

I have been to Saloon for couple of times, for breakfast, lunch and supper, it's always great and delicious food, lots of choices, service with a smile. I'm wanted to take my friend to a unique place, to have fun and enjoy great food, everything was excellent. Love the decoration and ambiance.

A nice lively bar right in the heart of the village. Good crowd, nice drinks and very friendly fun service. Prices were ok.

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
