Wow!!! 👏This is not my first time to this french croissant place. Been there many times and today was a special occasion my friends are having a brunch tomorrow and I volunteered picking up some croissant. Unbeknownst to me today is French citizens voting day in Outremont and the streets were filled with French people. So after waiting in line... More

Well, one does not go there for trendy decor! Let's make this straight. We went there yesterday in preparation for a meeting. That was a quick breakfast. We ordered the Best Almonds Croissant we ever had on any trip. Delicious Fabulous Incredible ☆☆☆☆☆ Decor is old with many old add's on the walls. The place is well maintained. Pastries are... More

These are croissants that need no jam. Buttery, flaky, crunchy and soft all at once. Their pattiserie is not that good, just take the croissants.

Best croissant in town. The apple croissant is delicious. Our daughter also loves their "pate d'amande". My husband takes their moka coffee once a week and can't go without it. The hot chocolate is awesome, not too sweet, a bit bitter and thick. Service is ok. There is not a lot of room to eat there.

Went to purchase a tart for dinner at a friend's home. Very small location and busy; display case filled with pastries and tarts. Chose the mirabelle fruit tart. Pate brisee pastry was delicious as was the filling. Also bought some marzipan "animals" which were much appreciated.

If you're from France and you miss our small "boulangerie", this is the spot ! It is always full and there is a line-up all day. Above all, it's affordable and fresh products all day long ! They also have some French products like Haribo candies and others snacks. Their croissants are delightful ! Fruits tartelette is a delice. A... More

Le Paltoquet has been around for a while on Ave. Van Horne in Montreal, and for good reason! When you walk inside, you immediately feel like you're walking in to a typical French patisserie, but I must say their croissants here are even better than those I've had in Paris! Small, buttery, flaky, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Try them with their... More

I thought I would treat myself to a croque monsieur on a cold day in Montreal. After waiting 30 minutes after 2 bites I noted it was not even hot but frozen right through. The lady at the next table had ordered a crepe without ham and guess what her crepe had ham! I told the server my food was... More

Heard about this bakery so decided to check it out with the kids. After careful thought there is nothing we bought that we would go back for compared to the numerous bakeries in Montreal. The croissants, chocolatines, palmiers, brioches and almond croissant are average at best, in fact somewhat dry and tasteless. The apple turnovers were on the burnt side.... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
