We really enjoyed our lunch at Chez Bong. I had the bibimbop and my wife had the yukejang. Great service.

From the outside, you might hesitate to go in. Go ahead and experience some really great Korean food at a reasonable price. The bibim bap is the speciality of this place and it is very good. The portion is perfect. We ordered some appetizers to share and the spicy rice cakes (can't remember the Korean name) were out of this... More

Many restaurants in Chinatown do not offer a place for a quite formal dining. This small restaurant is not different. The entrance can deter many customers from entering. Small entrance, tables without table clothes, non-existent décor. The typical place for a quick meal without pretensions in an area full of restaurants for quick meals. The food is simple and good,... More

The bulgogi and chicken was delicious - very well marinated and not at all tough. The staff was more than happy to play down the spiciness for us, too, since it was our first time. I'd never had kimchi or soju before but I loved trying everything. Menu items were helpfully listed in several different languages.

With an entry downstairs that is dark and not very promising, this delightful Korean restaurant with absolutely no ambiance delivers the most delicious food at a good price. I thoroughly enjoyed my Bibimbap in a stone bowl, topped with a fried egg. I had never had this dish before as we are all fans of Korean BBQ (both in Los... More

In the chinese quarter, the entrance of the restaurant is very ordinary. but give it a try, don't be fooled by appearances. Few steps down to half basement, but once inside , it ischarming and inviting. Few tables, fast service and very hot plates. We orders pork dumplings, for me bulgogi and dahk boui for my wife. Our meals come with... More

We were in Montreal and whenever we don't know what kind of food we want, Korean is the best option. And the food at Chez Bong is great! Try the Gun Mandu as a starter. They are homemade and you see and taste it - wonderful!

Highly rated on both tripadvisor and google so I figured it had to be good. Tripadvisor did not lead me astray. This is a little random restaurant, which you have to really look out for, or you'll miss it! Staff is all korean and very polite. The decor is very clean and makes the small place look big. TVs on... More

I love love love love LOVE, Chez Bong. The service, the food, the flavours, the ambience is amazing! I've had their bibimbap, general tao and stir fry dishes which are my absolute favorite from the menu. Can't wait for my next visit!!

Fantastic food. Could only eat about half of what was served, but it was great. Very reasonably priced; very casual restaurant.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
