We were invited here for a business luncheon. The ambiance was excellent but the service excellent. The prices are steep, but you get what you pay for. Well prepared and presented meals, that are abundant. Will be back

We were staying at the hotel and decided to come down for breakfast. We were so glad that we did! The food was amazing - my husband said it was the best breakfast that he ever had. I had fresh apple juice and the classic breakfast. The soft poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the grilled bread was amazing. My... More

The concierge at our hotel made the reservation for our group. We arrived and were seated right next to the service area; after asking, we were moved to another table which was OK. We put in our orders but the service was very slow; it took 2 1/2 hours for a three-course dinner that ranged from very good to difficult... More

This was the restaurant in our hotel. It turned out to be one of the hottest local spots. The food and service were excellent.

I visited L'Aromate about half a year ago and did not like its brunch that much. However, this past month I went again and was surprised by how much was improved. The 5-dish tasting menu was innovative and delicious. Portion was just enough without stuffing you too much. I would recommend its brunch as well as dinner now!

I am traveling in Montreal on business. My hotel recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad they did. The food was incredible. I had the soup and then a fruitti di mare. Wow. I also need to complement the front of the house. About 20 minutes after I got settled they turned the house lights down....I'm sure for atmosphere. I... More

You would surprised how many bars cannot mix a proper Manhattan... L'Aromate's bar nailed it! Salmon tartar, oysters and good patrons makes for great taste and ambiance! Must "go to" place...

Good food - terrible prices. Waiter was a bit rude re: tipping - he embarrassed my friends because they didn't tip him (not a custom where they are from). He didn't need to be so rude.

My friend and I reserved last Saturday for a promotional brunch through a social site. The resto is attached to a hotel, in a very central location in downtown Montreal. We were curious to try out an eatery owned by the celebrity chef, Laplante. The menu had a good selection to choose from. My guest had Eggs Benedict with smoked... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
