On our first visit to Charlottetown and looking for a place to nosh before a show at Confederation Centre, the missus and I stumbled on Sydney Street and its several eatery offerings. Tough choice, but ODP offered a happy hour with $1 oysters. You can’t refuse that. Turns out the joint has a great ambience, with indoor seating and a patio, with the standard big screens and a modest choice of draft beer. Along with $6 pints we ordered 10 oysters to start. They take time, so be prepared for a little wait before you place your mains order, or else you’ll eat the oysters for desert. They were served really cold, well shucked with seafood sauce (I add Tabasco) and they really schmecked. The missus had the haddock and chips, and found them scrumptious and generous in proportion. I went with the fish tacos, also haddock, and the were perfectly battered and tangy. The side Caesar was also good. After a bit of a rough start server Patience rallied and made the mark of attentiveness. With 3 pints, $70 before tip.

It's been our tradition to eat at the Old Dublin each summer while visiting Charlottetown and it's always been great but this year's visit was not up to their usual standards. We asked for a table out on their little corner terrace and were the second table to be seated there. A few minutes later, two other groups came out to be seated there. Then a waitress showed up and went to the third and fourth tables but completely ignored the first table and us. About five minutes later, a second waitress came out and waited on the first table, right next to us, then disappeared. We waited ten minutes before she reappeared and told us she was sorry but she had no idea we were there!!! So we placed our order, and waited a good 45 minutes for an order of fish tacos and a poutine! Had the restaurant been full I could understand, but it was only about half full when we arrived. Ironically, the place was packed and very busy last year the evening we were there and the service was much better.
As for the food, I had the fish tacos with an excellent salad but extremely bland, tasteless tacos. My friend said the poutine was ok but not nearly as good as last year. Worse, our waitress seemed to be fixated on the word "awesome" to the point where it was like some kind of comedy routine. People are entitled to thei personality, I get that, but when the waitress responds to every statement a customer makes with "awesome" it gets tedious and sounds very insincere. Perhaps Old Dublin management might find a way to tell their staff to tone it down a bit. So hopefully next year's visit will find the Old Dublin back to its glorious self.

Olde pub a block off main street of town, and upstairs.
Very nice atmosphere as well as $1 oysters between 11am-6pm, only downsize is they are very small but good for a nice treat. Tons of beer on draft
Staff very friendly and professional

Great night out for supper on a Sunday with excellent Celtic music Gord Belsher and Courtney Hogan Chandler. Food was great. Chantel our server was awesome and attentive but never over bearing. Friendly as heck too. All the servers worked together to remove empty dishes or bring food if others were busy. Great atmosphere. Definitely try this place out.

Great pub atmosphere with good pub food. Enjoyed the live music with the meal. Good selection of local beers to help the food go down. Portions were generous and I relished the bacon wrapped tenderloin cooked the way I like. We all liked dinner and had a wonderful time.

Located on Sydney St. on top of the third floor is a favorite for locals. The ambiance does remind us of being in Ireland. There are plenty of tables, booths and even a patio area. Music is even played on certain nights.
We enjoyed our visit the first time, we came back for a second visit. We did enjoy that they have “Canadian Molson” on draft. I also ordered a spicy Caesar cocktail from one of their experienced staff.
My wife liked the vegetables and Haddock. I enjoyed the “Steak Pie” made with Guinness. The crust was flakey and the entire pie had good flavor. I would order this item again given another opportunity.

We went in to take advantage of the $1 oysters on the half shell (you do have to purchase a beverage to get that price). Well, the oysters were excellent!! So fresh and delicious. We then decided to try the seafood chowder - it was absolutely perfect - so rich and creamy, and full of seafood. Of course, being a pub they have a very nice selection of local craft beers to enjoy with the outstanding food.

We discovered the Olde Dublin Pub about quite a few years ago while vacationing in Charlottetown and since then we always go back as the food is truly tremendous. We were happy to see they survived the pandemic. Our only issue was with the reservation system, which we tried for the first time this year. We wanted a table in the small outdoor terrace. I clearly specified this in the reservation request and since the reservations was quickly confirmed in email with no specific message, I assumed it was ok. When we arrived, the greeter said they don't take reservations for the terrace and tried to seat us inside. When I pointed out that we weren't told this, he checked the terrace and found us a table (there were two available). I get that the weather can be unpredictable and had it been raining we would have of coutse agreed to sit inside but when receiving reservations that request outside, if the restaurant isn't willing to accept such a reservation without condition, they should really say so in the confirmation!

We stopped there on a weekday evening for a quick bite and enjoy some time sitting down after a day of touring. We were welcomed by some live music.
The good: Service was good and quick. Waiter often came over to check on us. Food was good for the rest of the family. Nachos were okay. Drinks are great. Adjustable lighting at your table (or at least the one we were sitting at). Live music sounded good and some people were participating.
The bad: My quesadillas were not that good snd l was disappointed (my worst meal of my stay in PEI), so don’t get that. Some tables have chairs that are high, so if you have problem climbing up higher chairs, be aware they gave some.
Even though my meal personally was disappointing, l am sure l would have had success with something else (l had a bite of others’ meals at our table and they were good). This is a good stop.

Had a truly excellent waiter who was able to inform/advise us on menu items and beer choices, checked on us frequently, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a quality experience. The seating in the curved booth was cozy, fun and private. The food and drinks were delicious - so flavourful! Loved every bite of the herbed crusted haddock, veggies and mashed. Hubby thought the Island burger was simply the BEST!

*hit waitress! *hit food! Older gruff blonde waitress didn't even check on us to do a quality check, gave my husband the wrong beer & didn't bring my beer without an apology. Hamburgers were rare, processed sliced cheese, soggy cold bun, underwhelming fries. First & last visit.

Very average food. I expected succulent PEI mussels steamed in a garlicky buttery sauce. The mussels themselves were so small with no flavor. My spouse had a dry steak and Guinness pie. The WORST part was the incredibly loud musicians. We couldn't talk across the table or hear each other. This music is more suited for after nine o'clock NOT during dinner. I left with a headache!!

We were in Charlottetown for a show at the Confederation Centre and decided to hit up the Old Dublin for drinks and music after the show finished. We arrived somewhere between 10:15 and 10:30pm. We found out there was a $5 cover as they were having music. No problem.....kind of expected that.
The issue was they were showing the Blue Jays ball game on the big screen which covered the stage area. The ironic thing is that the large screen was showing the ball game at 1.5 to 2 innings behind the live game. Being an avid ball fan, I was checking the score(live) with the game finished in extra innings, while the game being shown on the large screen hadn't hit extra innings yet. Weird.
Anyhow, the live music didn't start until way after 11:00pm. Approaching 11:30 or later. By then most of the bar had cleared out.
With all of that, the service was great and efficient. The beer was cold and nachos hit the spot.
We felt when leaving that they should have refunded our $5 music cover, but overall it was a decent experience.
Not sure, we would go again, but every place has an off-night.

B+ for service and food. we brought the coaches and some family for a meal and a drink. The $1 oysters were excellent. The Seafood chowder was more of a soup than a chowder, I prefer a little more thickness. The scallops were excellent. Overall it was a great experience. We will be back again.

We went for lunch on a whim. The menu is somewhat limited but covers the usual fare. I had the butcher sandwich which was thinly sliced med rare roast beef of a bun with au jus and fries. The fries were great, not greasy but crispy and tasty. It’s strange how many restaurants have bad French fries. The bun and sandwich was tasty, the au jus was much too salty for my taste. All in all quite a good lunch. My wife had the Old Dublin Club which was also quite good. Total price for two sandwiches and two soft drinks $56.00 ( with tip) which seems very high to me. Service was good, quick and friendly.
