Spent the afternoon at Slaymakers a few times this winter. The food is top notch- only to be outdone by the service. The entertainment on Sundays is fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire atmosphere. They used to have the biggest scallops but have taken them off their menu, pity. There were a few items that were not available so a very limited 50% off appetizer menu. Otherwise, top marks.

This was our 5th visit to Slaymakers since their opening and I feel that it has changed. I don't want to say, "For better, or for worse," it just has changed. When we first started coming here, it was a quaint little restaurant with a decent sized menu of very unique dishes. Our subsequent visits were the same. This last time however was very different. The place was very noisy, music was loud and the menu quite small. When the drink menu is 2 full pages and the dinner menu is 1 small one, that tells me that they are trying to reach a different clientele. That is not a bad thing, it is just not our cup of tea. I must say that the pasta was excellent and the dessert was perfect. I just would have liked to see a few more items on the menu. The one item I was not pleased with was the fish cakes. They were very "chewy" and not smooth like a fish cake should be. Our server was superb and he even put a candle in my dessert when my wife mentioned that it was my birthday. This is a great restaurant and if you are coming to Charlottetown, you should make it one of your stops for fine dining. It is just not what we were expecting since we had previously visited. One recommendation I will make is that you make a reservation way in advance. It is not a large restaurant and it fills up very quickly.

Great daily half price appetizer and $3 off cocktail specials from 3-5 pm. There isn't an app that we don't enjoy. Usually get a charcuterie board as they are fabulous with a nice assortment. Tried the shrimp this time and they were awesome. Miss the scallops on the app menu. We were there for our 35th wedding anniversary late afternoon snack. A big shout out to our server Toro, originally from Venezuela who was very personable and perfectly attentive. He arrived at our table with two glasses of sparking wine after he found out we were celebrating our anniversary. It's never just food here. Always taking it up a notch with taste and presentation. One of our favorite date spots.

We ordered several appetizers and one entrée to share. The steak on the toast and the meatball were excellent. The lobster dip was good, but We could not taste the lobster. There was too much cream and spices which overpowered the lobster The lobster BLT was just OK. It was messy to eat, and it was more of a seafood salad or as we expected pieces of lobster. The Berri Tacos or excellent. We were very disappointed in the desserts. First was the salted caramel chocolate. The chocolate mousse was not flavorful. The cake was dry and flavorless. The salted caramel was good as was the whip cream. The second dessert was a raspberry mousse. It had the same chocolate cake layers that were tasteless, although the raspberry mousse was OK. The service was good and the atmosphere was good

The inn we had booked in Charlottetown (which will remain nameless) lost our reservation. To their credit, they found us a room here, and we're glad they did. The establishment is primarily a gastropub, but they have 3 rooms upstairs and we were perfectly happy with ours. No TV, but a private balcony. The owners were nothing but cordial and accommodating. We ate a very delicious breakfast of eggs benedict here. If we are ever back in Charlottetown, I would definitely stay here again, and probably try to book dinner too, since their breakfast was so good. Highly recommended. If you want a room, definitely make a reservation, as they only have three.

Consistently good and some creative effort. Really wanted to give 4.5 stars. This is a small, local restaurant that really makes an effort to be different. The drinks are very creative and tasty; they take drinks seriously dehydrating their own fruit, making their own syrups & bitters, serving them in a proper glass with a proper garnish etc. the food is very creative, savoury and served hot. They have a nice outdoor seating area in the summer months. You feel as though they make an i effort to impress you.

We spent a week touring around Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. When staying in Charlottetown just up the street, we were put on the dinner reservation wait list and were so happy to have our reservation confirmed. Our meals, including appetizers, drinks and entrees, unquestionably constituted our finest dining experience in an entire week of mostly high-end restaurants.

This place shouldn’t be missed! The restaurant is in the coolest old house and has been carefully restored and decorated. If you are like I am, it is the ambiance of a place that makes or breaks the night. I can’t say enough about what the owners have created. They have an extensive list of unique cocktails, the bourbon and blueberry one was amazing! We decided to order some small plates. The standouts were the the lobster and scallop ceviche (a thing dreams are made of) and the crab cakes. We didn’t care for the scallops and pork belly and were surprised that the server didn’t notice we had only had a few bites. This is the only reason I haven’t given the restaurant five stars. Seeing the entrees around us they all looked delicious. The service was efficient and friendly. They have an outdoor space which looked to be a raised patio on the sidewalk/road. You should eat inside….the building and the way it has been decorated is the star of the show!!

We’ve been in the Maritimes for 9 days now. First time visitors out here from the Canadian Prairies. We were in Nova Scotia to start, including the Halifax and Chester/Mahone Bay/Lunenburg areas. Our meal at Slaymaker & Nichols was the best yet. The appetizer scallop dish was to die for. So good in fact that we ordered them twice. For entrees we had the Seafood Bake and the Mushroom Wellington. Every bite was heaven. A cut above the rest, no doubt about it. The flavour profile of every bite was so expertly crafted, you can just tell how much time and effort has gone into not only the recipes and cookery, but the sourcing of quality ingredients as well. The atmosphere and the service were absolutely top notch. Happy to recommend. An absolute must for anyone visiting Charlottetown who appreciates exquisite 5-star cuisine in a laidback, casual atmosphere. Grab yourself a reservation well ahead of time. You will not be disappointed.

Received a very strong recommendation to eat at this restaurant from local friends. The atmosphere is in keeping with it circus and carnie roots. The server had no problems making substitutions with our orders and everything was so delicious. Didn't have any room for dessert unfortunately, but the crab cake appetizers and the lobster burger and salad me up. Delicious.

We have given rave reviews of this establishment ever since our first visit in April, 2023. Our most recent visit was disappointing as many of the great appetizers were no longer available. Oysters Rockefeller, Sliders and Fish Taco Appetizers were no longer on the menu. In fairness, the Cocktails were excellent.

If you’re travelling alone and want to feel invisible and irrelevant, this is the place for you. I travel with my work and eat out a lot. Popped in to grab a seat at the bar for a drink and a bite. The gentleman who seated me informed me that he “had to have me out by 7”. I arrived at 5:20pm. Lots of time. Ordered a glass of wine and tried to stay out of the way, as my barstool was in the path of the staff and seemed to be one to many for that space. I couldn’t finish my wine fast enough. Made to feel unwelcome, I walked down the street to SIMS where I was treated professionally, had a wonderful experience and meal. SLAYMAKERS came highly recommended as locally sourced fantastic fare. Clearly, they have risen to a level that no longer requires good customer relations. Boo SLAYMAKERS. Never again.

Another great evening at Slaymakers. Slaymakers is not a huge restaurant but a very unique one it is. If you have read my posts in the past, you would have heard this story already but I will repeat it for those that have not. The owners of this establishment took a century house that was one time someone's home, then a lawyer's office and turned it into a restaurant/inn. I will not tell you about their unique name. This will be your homework to look it up. It is quite interesting. Now back to the restaurant. They offer a wonderful selection of dishes that change up from time to time. Very artistically presented as you can see from my pictures. I have been here multiple times now and they have been very consistent with the quality of food, quality of service and atmosphere. As a critic I must find something to complain about although there is not much I can find. The only reoccurring issue I have found is their choice of music. This restaurant has a classic style that begs for a soft jazz playlist and they have yet to marry their music to the restaurant. A very minor complaint but I would not be doing my job if I did not point it out. One tip for you is to make a reservation way in advance as you will be dissapointed if you think you can get one same day.

Definitely our best restaurant experience in Charlottetown. The food was great, well executed and creative. Lobster Mac and cheese was a definite highlight, but the best part was the server taking the time to provide us with detailed local recommendations for beaches and attractions (lakeside beach was our favorite but we wanted to check out a local favorite on Ross Lane).

Seafood bake and beef tenderloin very good. Burger very average. Crab cakes were the worst I’ve ever had - they were mashed potato patties- not even a hint of crab. It seems every time we go, we hope it’s gotten better - the trend is in the other direction.
