Delicious Unique Food and Cool Atmosphere

I loved the Hopyard! The menu had about 10 choices which are all small plates and great to share. We had the best Mac and Cheese of my life. The atmosphere is casual and they have records you can ask them to play. They played City and Colour while we were there and I bought the vinyl album and record player when I got home because I loved it so much. We streamed it in the car for the rest of our trip and became our soundtrack for PEI.

Two options for Burger Love

Hopyard is one of several restaurants offering a meat and a meatless burger option this year. Ordered one of each a a plate of fries to share. Nice selection of beers, ciders and seltzers. Pick out an album to listen to while enjoying your meal. Always a pleasure.

Excellent food, an ever-changing menu, and a great atmosphere

The food is excellent and it's very welcome to have the option to go for cheaper eats (roughly $8.00 CA) instead of more expensive main courses. The ever-changing menu means that even if something didn't strike your fancy one week, you can come back later and try something different. I also love the atmosphere and the music is always great. Highly recommended!

Underwhelmed - too much Mayo & Mustard

We went for a drink and a bite to eat but were underwhelmed. The food was meh. We ordered 3 dishes and they were soggy because they were all drenched in either mayo, mustard or gravy. It is nice to have sauce but not to a point where the food has no flavour or texture. Service was good.

Complete waste of time and money - A rethink is in order

1 out of 5 is too much!! This place is purely a hipster heaven with snotty undertone service and horribly over-hyped food. Most of the fare is heavily deep fried. If you want to feel full fast as well as feel sick afterward, eat at Hopyard. The beer is served in small round glasses that lack appeal (see picture). I eat out all the time and this is the strangest concept I've ever encountered for a place that prides itself on its beer selection. I won't even comment on the decor because it's nothing to write about. The noise level though.........YIKES, extremely loud when more than 20 people are around. This noise creates an atmosphere that is hardly socially conducive. Overall I feel that Hopyard will do well through the summer because it is "new" and it's Canada 150 so you could run a hot dog stand in East Point in May and still make a buck. Sorry but Hopyard gets no love from me. All the best though as this place does at least contribute to the local economy.

I use the live here and would come to Hopyard often, but I moved in 2020 and it’s my first time back. I raved to my partner about this cool spot and I was greatly disappointed. The prices have all increased and they wouldn’t be bad but the food was terrible. I have allergies and I had to modify my food, but they ended up charging me for the modification without telling me it would cost me and I paid 12 dollars for soggy cold nacho chips with basically salsa on it. It was a huge disappointment. The only thing that saved our first night on the island was the trivia. So, at least I go free entertainment with the saddest food I’ve ever eaten on the island.

Fairly Tasty, Love the Changing Menu

My husband and I usually stop here at least once during our visits to the island. We love how much the menu changes- it's so fun to get to experience more than one menu if our trip is long enough. This time when we went, some of the food was not as good as usual- not as flavourful. If we had a beer with it, it probably would have helped but the food as stand alone was not as good as we expected it to be. We had ordered about 4 dishes between us to try and two of the four were awesome. The other two were a letdown. I also wish they had something on the menu as a fresh option- like not deep fried or heavy. Our trip wasn't long enough to see a menu change, so we didn't go back a second time, especially since we only really enjoyed about half our food. We will however, go back next time we are on the island. They do have good value for their dishes and we really like the ambience. Hopefully next time we go, the food will be as great as it usually is.

Great idea for a craft brew pub

Two things we love, craft beer and vinyl! They have an excellent rotating selection of brews and a large selection of records in the middle of the bar. Pick one out and put it in the rotation! So fun! Bartenders were very friendly and conversational. We did not eat there, but, saw the servers bring out plate/bowl of great menu items! A must stop when youre in town!

Great place for a beer while touring the town

We stopped by for a cool drink on our tour around Charlottetown. The place was almost empty on a Saturday afternoon, and we were greeted pleasantly and seated at a window table. The beer selection is good, as expected, and the prices are reasonable. My IPA was good, not great. The ambiance is not warm or inviting, and it's essentially just one large room focusing on old vinyl records (pretty cool, though).

What a treat!

What a great spot! We had an absolutely lovely meal at the Hopyard. Every dish we ordered was delicious. We loved the curly potatoes paprikash, the street corn rigatoni, the sticky rice pockets, and the rancher fries but our favourite dish was the churro donuts. Yummy! This place had superior customer service as well as great ambiance and cool music. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out. Prices were extremely reasonable too.

OK, but not a must.

Very basic bar decor, even a little dingy. Very pleasant server. Great beer choices, especially local brews. Ordered the lamb curry, with naan and rice. The curry itself was delicious. But then we discovered that most of the meat was beef. The few pieces of lamb were very good, but what would have been a very pleasant experience, became a negative one. It felt like we were being deceived. It was not described as “beef and lamb”.

Not family friendly

Not family friendly Ridiculous policy of not allowing us to eat with our kids (under 19!) for table service after 7pm on a Tuesday night. There were ample seats available too… Ordered takeout- Hit or miss. Some dishes were very good, others were meh. Won’t be coming back unless they change their family policy.

Best food we had in PEI

Food was amazing and reasonably priced. The staff went out of their way to find us a drink that was more our taste. They offer mainly local craft beers, but found us a local seltzer that we loved. Would have gotten 5 stars but the seating was uncomfortable. But would absolutely eat here again!

Great restaurant to try in Charlottown

Great find, I would go again. The atmosphere when we went was chill, and service was fantastic. The food was really good, with an imaginative menu, but I found their fries a little too salty. The beer menu had lots of local options, but they don’t have samples or flights to try them all unfortunately.

Lunch portions and value excellent

Great place for lunch, food was very tasty and both portion sizes and value for money excellent. Menu changes regularly so check if you have any serious likes or dislikes but usually all will find something to enjoy. Service great also, although place was surprisingly pretty empty when we were there.
