I've eaten Shawarma everywhere and this is the best I've found. You know you've reached a real Shawarma place when they have newspapers in Arabic, and no dairy products for sale. The Shawarma sandwiches at Shawarma Empire are out of this world good. I always ask for the home made spicy sauce on the side - it's warm and is... More

The best shawarma you can try in Toronto. The only problem is that almost half the sandwich is empty although the price is not very cheap. However, the quality is amazing. Also, the place needs some touches and updates.

Heard from a colleague that this place serves the best shawarma East of Istanbul.... he was not joking! Food: The chicken shawarma & falafel sandwich are delicious. It's not the 'wrap' type, it's a pita pocket that filled with tasty chicken/beef or falafel (your choice), salad & sauces, simple and tasty. It's good value for your hard earned money. Service:... Family run, mother and her 3 sons (?). Expect a line up at lunch time. 2 shawarma for 8 bucks, beef or chicken, spicy or non. Shawarma plate with rice and salad for the same price. Fast and furious, and incredibly fresh and delicious. None of the other shawarma places in the area can compete. Limited seating, eat and run.... More

The empire knows how to make a shawarma - crispy and packed with flavour. The meat is marinated in a home made sauce that is to die for. 2 shawarma for $9 makes for one of the best deals in Toronto. Worth making the trip to Scarborough for this one. A hidden gem.

I tried this place for the first time and I will be going back. Great beef shawarma and nicely spiced. Prices are very good and their selection of desserts are pretty good as well.

Time to time we visit this location, and it is always busy with line ups. Very tasted and well priced (2 for 1). Usually I try one beef and one chicken, especially spicy sauce is very good. I do recommend.

Staying in Scarborough

Neighborhood Profile
Situated astride Lake Ontario, Scarborough is a district heavily influenced by immigration. With a number of low-rent shopping and dining options making it a highly affordable part of town, and boasting one of Toronto's largest shopping malls, the otherwise green suburban neighborhood is a good place to go for bargains and discounts. It also draws in photographers. The spires, archways, and cavernous rooms of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Palace are filled with breathtaking art, architecture, and detailed reliefs – it’s like entering a different world, The ruins of columns and installation art at the Guild Inn makes a free-for-all exploration site, while the big-name draw for young photographers is the menagerie at the Toronto Zoo. While many visitors shirk Scarborough as too suburban, its houses are some of Toronto's most mystical and haunting architectural beauties. And for adventure lovers, it has river-rafting and some unique hiking trails.
