First off the sushi here is AMAZING! You will not be disappointed! Some of the best sushi I've had in the city. My only complaint is we were asked to leave our table to accommodate another reservation (location is quite small, reservations are recommended!) We were only given about 5 minutes warning, and asked to vacate twice, forcing me to... More

Japango is perfect. FRESH sushi, the rolls are small and they don't have a lot of rice which I like as most places pack on the rice. The service is awesome and everyone is friendly and the food comes out quick. Everything tastes so good and fresh. Cant beat the prices.

If you plan to spend a lot, just go ahead, because the food is okay. Do not order salmon because not fresh at all.

This is my absolute favorite Japanese restaurant in downtown Toronto. The freshness and quality are unsurpassed. If you are lucky they will have Fresh Uni which is out of this world.

not trendy, it's crowded and be prepared to get intimate with the table next to you. and that's great!! part of amazing experience. boss lady very nice and runs the place well. fish is beyond fantastic and prepared with respect. if you haven't had sushi here and claim to like the cuisine, you're a fraud.

I have visited this restaurant twice and both times been very impressed with the speedy service and the quality of the food. The first time, we ordered a few rolls and they were delivered to our table in maybe 5 minutes - we were really surprised because it was so fast but the presentation was great and they were delicious!... I recently had a very nice dinner at this quaint high-quality Japanese establishment. I did not have any reservations when I arrived at 8pm; however, they took my name and told me to come back in an hour. When I returned, it was still busy because there was this one couple who were just lounging and taking up space. I... More

Had lunch here while in Toronto for w/e in August 2016 and sashimi was excellent. The Otoro was absolutely top-notch. The seating is however very tight as there only about a dozen tables and the staff try to rush you to finish, so that they can turn the tables around promptly. If you can enjoy top quality traditional style sushi... More

this tiny restaurant was recommended to us and it was a poor experience. the place is located on the edge of Chinatown and seems to pay more attention to take out orders than to its patrons. the restaurant is very small and does not have a sushi bar. It sit about 18 people squeezed one against the other...don't think about... More

After a few years living in Japan, my palate has definitely been spoiled. I've tried three places in Toronto, so far Japango is the closest to what's I've tasted in Japan. Fish fresh and cool, rice lukewarm with touch of vinegar/konbu taste. Ambiance is very Japanese, tiny place but full of life. I've been three times and each time I... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
