Really expensive, really crowded and really tastey - the sea urchin was worth every penny. The sashimi may have ruined regular sushi restaurants for me, it was heads and shoulders above the stuff I've come to expect.

I'm an avid sushi consumer and the japango roll hit homerun for me. Definitely recommend. Soft shell crab was a little bit fishy for my taste though

Found this place on another site and it hit the spot. A real touch of Japan, crowded, noisy, but outstanding chow. Go early or you'll have to wait and watch others chewing down the great selection.

I am delighted to report that I found a place where I can get the kind of toro I enjoy in Vancouver. The place is tiny and customers are squeezed into a cozy hospitable environment that reminds me of authentic Japanese sushi bars. The prices are high, but so is the quality. I intend to return.

I took my mom here for a fine Japanese dining experience. There are lots to choose from in Toronto, and I chose this one specifically for the occasion because it offered "otoro", and those are extremely rare to find outside of Japan, and must be imported. For those that don't know, otoro is the fattiest belly part of a bluefin... More

A little on the pricier side than my usual budget but the sushi was so fresh it was worth every penny! Staff is nice and the atmosphere was nice and cosy. Best sea urchin I've had in a long time too!

My daughter and I wanted some good sushi so we headed to Japango despite the fact that the owner is known to apparently take the tips from the servers. Well, I guess I should have stuck to my principles and not eaten here because despite the good sushi, the rice that came with our sashimi was not fully cooked and... More

Just letting all of you know that I have a friend who was a server there. The owner takes all the tip. Servers don't get any.

This is not a traditional/authentic Japanese restaurant where good service is highly valued. The food was comparative to the other authentic sushi restaurants in Toronto however the service was really poor.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
