If you want to celebrate something special, I highly recommend going to George for the tasting menu experience. My husband and I have come here many times over the past few years (for birthdays and anniversaries) and we have taken others to help celebrate their special occasions, all because the blind tasting menu is delicious and fun. As each course... More

Large venue located in old town Toronto. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was busy and obviously popular with the locals. The dining room is pleasant and we'll decorated with ambient lighting. We had one of the small booths which was intimate. The service from servers and somelier was friendly and informative. We chose from the small a... More

Went here for a lunch meeting; service was extremely slow even though it was 14:00 and the place was fairly empty. Ordered spinach, cheddar and strawberry salad and a cappuccino. Salad tasted very strong as they use some sort of horseradish dressing; it destroyed my palette and breath for the rest of the day. Cappuccino didn't arrive until after I... More

The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. The architecture support the fine dining claim. The food quality is good but not wow... The price is too high for the food experience. The overall service is fine. However the support we got from the sommelier weak or didn't want to help us. He didn't ask our meal choices (we decided... More

This was such a good restaurant. The four course meal we had for lunch was AMAZING. It was great that every dish of each meal brought out to us was different. Instead of four courses it was like having eight. I would definitely go back and try the dinner tasting menu.

I could not recommend George more. George is known for their tasting menu and not only do they have a standard one but they also do one specifically for vegetarians. Now this is not cheap. We chose to do the 7 course vegetarian tasting menu for $99 per person and would gladly do it again. The nice things was that... More

My husband and I visited George Restaurant for a wedding anniversary and will definitely return. The food and service were outstanding. The crazy and wonderful chef in the back makes individual creations as he goes along. The wine pairing were great as well. Food preferences are extremely well accommodated even in the tasting menu. Our courses were actually mixed up... More

What can we say ? This restaurant met all our expectations and more. Interesting architecture, open kitchen, attentive helpful staff. The food is certainly fine dining with the wines to match. A special night out.

We were in Toronto for TIFF and made reservations at George. We thought it would be nice but were really wowed by the whole experience. We did the 7 course tasting menu for four. The nice thing they do is mix the dishes, so there were two different dishes for each course so each of us actually sampled 14 dishes!... More

My husband booked this restaurant for our 3 year anniversary. He called about a week before to make reservation for the weekend and it was almost fully booked. Our option was 9pm or later. We booked for 9pm. We arrived on time for our reservation and were greeted and seated quickly. Our waitress recommended items on the menu and gave... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
