Visited here over a 7 day period for breakfast and dinner twice as we loved it so much! Great selection of food which is all freshly cooked. Highly recommend the meatloaf followed by pecan pie! Can't wait to come back again.....

I came across this restaurant (across the street from Massey Hall) and as it advertised being around since 1940 I couldn't resist dining there. It is right downtown and is open 24 hours. Lots of choices, including classic burgers, fries and milkshakes. I had the daily special for dinner, sirloin steak with fries. Steak was rare, just as I requested... More

A laid back old fashion type of restaurant. Loud, incredible food. Inexpensive. All sorts of choices. Love the atmosphere

Had a nice lunch/brunch at Fran's on the weekend with my daughter. Had egg's bennie with Portobello mushrooms instead of the bread. Was delish! Coffee was good and service was polite. Had to wait quite a while but food came out hot and ready to eat. Breakfast fries were great. Priced a little bit cheaper than Cora's down the street.

Let's be honest, this place isn't going to serve you a breakfast that will blow your mind, but Fran's has been a staple for me for two very good reasons. 1) Super late hours = Solid go-to for 3am drunken pancakes. 2) The wide open roof top patio on the second floor. I came here a few times this past... More

I always like to eat at Fran's since they have a variety of great food. Never disappointed. It's not a fancy place but rather a place where you can eat and relax or have a quick bite.

We always eat at Fran's after a visit to the theatre. It's a busy place but the service is usually very good, and the food it great!

Went there for bacon and eggs. A lineup but staff calm and efficient. Our service was exemplary. She was attentive and responsive. The type of service that we received at the Library Bar at the Royal York but at a fraction of the price. The food was nicely prepared and presented.

I visited Fran's after a concert at Massey Hall just recently. The food was good and the portions were generous. The service was prompt. The menu offered a wide variety, from breakfast selections to dinner options. I had a late dinner, unfortunately I didn't have room for dessert. Maybe next time.

This is our favorite breakfast spot in downtown Toronto, usually make it here when overnight in Toronto. Huge portions, good vale. Food is great and service is fast and friendly. It is a 50's type old fashion dinner and decor - neat. We've been here several times and brought family and friends and never disappointed. Highly recommend this spot...

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
