Sunday breakfast at Fran's is a Toronto tradition. It has been years since I was at fran's and it remains the same. Great diner experience. I will say that they seem to get you in and out faster than I would like. Really not the place you feel that you can linger over a couple of coffees.

With a name like Fran's and a gaudy marquis entrance with 1000's of red light bulbs open 24 hours, you it's going to be good. Had a traditional breakfast with fast service. The coffee was good and hot and bottomless. Like the Art Deco decor a bit reminiscent of a NYC type diner with stainless steel, mirrors and pastel vinyls.... More

We just went for dessert, but we liked the vibe and the service was good. The inside is like an old-fashioned diner.

You know it's good when you arrive because the line is out the door. Fabulous omelette and even better potatoes. Would recommend for a Cheap Eat in the heart of Toronto.

We always stop at Frans when in Toronto. Great breakfast, and there are usually some colourful characters eating their meal. Prompt friendly service. A Toronto institution. We miss the short lived Frans in Barrie ON. Doesn't matter what you order, always good. At College and Yonge right on the subway line. The place seems a bit tired but it is... More

Fast and friendly service. We have been here twice for late day breakfast and were pleased both times. Priced reasonably!

We went here for Breakfast on New Years Day. We arrived at approx 10:20 and had no problem to get a place fast - you get seated by a friendly waiter. All the waiters/waitresses are extremely friendly, quick and always ready to help. They check on you every 10 minutes. The food is amazing!! It's delicious, not too expensive and... More

When I was much younger, a stop at Fran's after an evening out at the pub was de rigueur. Huge dishes at reasonable prices, and pies and cakes (especially the cheesecake) to die for. It's nice to see that it hasn't changed much. Yes, the College street location is smaller but they recently added an upper deck. I haven't had... More

Loved their all day breakfast. Busy place. Excellent service, great food. Good place to experience a bit of local culture in the downtown area.

Operating since 1940, Fran's is famous for several comfort dishes, most notably the Banquet Burger, which original founder Fran Deck created. Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
