It was awesome! Great wait staff. Very friendly people. The pies are awesome. We were always allowed to stay as long as we wanted. My wife and I loved it!

Our favourite brunch spot. Its no greasy spoon, or fancy spot, but its generous, well done, and delicious. Their patio is lovely (albeit quite cramped), and staff are nice. Menu is extensive, with lots of options.

Fan's established in 20 college in 1940 offering the best menu at that time our parents loved, strawberry and chocolate milkshakes, burgers, etc. They use retro milkshake machines and serve it in the metal cups. We ordered also calamari, umm. There is a second floor addition and two more locations one in Victoria st.

Playing tourist in Toronto, gambled on this place for breakfast. Big mistake. It's apparently been in business for 3 generations. Bad eggs (eggs!), burned sausage (mmm..charcoal), horrid frozen home fries deep fried into greasy tater rocks.

Someone recommended this place to me and my friend so we stopped by for breakfast. The place was busy but we were seated faster than we expected. The service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The food was as expected - huge portions and very filling. Prices are reasonable.

Fran's is where you have breakfast in Toronto. Period. Full stop! Eggs Bennedict... with breakfast steak? Can't get that anyplace else, can you? Quick, friendly, attentive and cheerful service and great food - lots of it!

We arrived here as it was located just around the corner from our hotel. Having read positive reviews we decided to eat here. We went in and was escorted up to the top (third) floor. Both the first and second floors were deserted. On reaching the top floor we were seated at a table which still contained the used plates,... More

My wife and I dropped into Fran's while on business in Toronto. The waitress was very nice, brought our coffee, water etc and we proceeded to order. I noticed that a side order of corned beef hash was $4.50 and homefries $5.99. Since the corned beef hash is cheaper,I asked if I could substitute? She went and talked to a manager and... More

I have chosen this restaurant because I wanted to have breakfast in the open air, on the rooftop. It was not open untill 11 am though. I could sit on the patio but it was too noisy from the traffic so I resat myself inside. The outmeal was perfectly made with milk and the fruit was fresh. The waitress was... More

Visited Frans my first night in Toronto. We was recommend to visit buy the bar tender who works in the Irish pubacross the road, also fab service. We ordered the half pounder burger with fries. The food came within a reasonable time and tasted good for the price. Possibly the best burger I've had and was well needed after a... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
