We've been here a few times for lunch or dinner on our visits to TO. The head waiter is great - charming as well as being serious about the food - and the other staff are competent, attentive and pleasant. That tells us the place is well-managed, maybe a family business. The food is always good and some things are... More

...but why would you eat anything but seafood in a Portuguese restaurant? A small boutique restaurant with top-notch service. When we ordered wine, the waiter immediately gave us a concise, accurate and enthusiastic description. Great atmosphere, prompt, unobtrusive and attentive service and very generous portions. We've been before and we'll come again when we're in town.

We went whilst on honeymoon in Toronto as it was recommended to us. The food was delicious. I had grilled squid to start which was cooked to perfection. My husband had goats cheese which was creamy and well presented. We had seafood risotto and fish stew for main, both very tasty and cooked well. We couldn't resist a dessert so... More

The good: sardine salad, creme carmel. The low: day old, dry bread, crab cakes (where 's the crab?), risotto with liquid.

If you're only going to read the first line of this post: if you HAVE to go here, only order the pork belly/octopus or the piri piri shrimp-those 2 were impressive. For dessert, the creme caramel. Everything else was bland or boring. Risotto rice was overcooked and the dish was under seasoned. Shrimp bisque lacked flavour. Platter we ordered was... More

Nice wait staff but crabcakes were just warm and had a bitter flavour. Fish dish next. Fish hot veg, again, just warm. DONT GO DURING SUMMERLISCIOUS!

Went last Saturday for Summerlicious in a group of 4. Food are nice, especially the pork chop, not dried and "taste a bit like steak" (Quote from my friend, lol) The only reason i did not rate excellent is the food is not good enough to make me become a returning customer.

When we arrived I was disappointed that they had the prix fixe Summerlicious menu on. You could not order from the regular menu. The food did not seem freshly prepared but was dumbed down. It was like the chef was on holiday. My pan fish was dry, fishy and overcooked. I did not seem freshly prepared but had been reheated.... More

the food was excellent, the staff was friendly, informative, totally into soccer (making my husband very happy), and the atmosphere in this restaurant was warm and inviting. the special dessert, the molotov, was so light that it felt as though it had no substance - just foamy sweet deliciousness!

Great Portuguese food with a good selection of seafood. We were a big group and I tried a bite of different dishes and they were all great. The steak was ok and not the best but their octopus which is their speciality dish was AMAZING.. Highly recommended. Also the sausage was a great appetizer.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
