We visited Adega this past weekend and had an excellent experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we were finished. The service was superb - our waiter was very knowledgable, polite, and attentive. The food was so fresh and delicious. We almost forgot we were in Canada while we were there! A must try in Toronto for... More

We were in Toronto and met family for dinner here. We had heard positive things about Adega and our time there not disappoint. We had seafood which was beautifully prepared and presented. The wine choice our waiter helped us with was excellent. The desserts were excellent. We had a private booth which allowed us to talk easily without a high... More

Just across the road from the Chelsea, this place matches any that we have experienced in Portugal a pleasant suprice as non Canadian normally are very gimmicky. Food, wine and service from all was more than superb. Went there twice and wasnt disapointed. Our coverstion with the manager about Liverpool FC and Benfica was fun.

I love Portuguese cuisine and reading this to be a good quality place with reasonable prices, I gave it a try. Maybe not authentically Portuguese but a decent menu, good wines and lovely cosy ambiance. Food prices are definetely more reasonable compared to similar places but service is a bit slow and maybe waiters are distracted due to being overtired... More

Visited Adega after a long day at Polson Pier. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was fantastic. There was nothing pretentious about the food, just simple ingredients but executed very well. The octopus was tender and the tamarind sauce gave it a unique sweet and tangy accent. My striploin was cooked perfectly through and through and didn't... More

We had a great meal at Adega. The salmon was done to perfection and the cataplana fish stew was to die for. Great find in Toronto! We will be back!

We've been here a few times for lunch or dinner on our visits to TO. The head waiter is great - charming as well as being serious about the food - and the other staff are competent, attentive and pleasant. That tells us the place is well-managed, maybe a family business. The food is always good and some things are... More

...but why would you eat anything but seafood in a Portuguese restaurant? A small boutique restaurant with top-notch service. When we ordered wine, the waiter immediately gave us a concise, accurate and enthusiastic description. Great atmosphere, prompt, unobtrusive and attentive service and very generous portions. We've been before and we'll come again when we're in town.

We went whilst on honeymoon in Toronto as it was recommended to us. The food was delicious. I had grilled squid to start which was cooked to perfection. My husband had goats cheese which was creamy and well presented. We had seafood risotto and fish stew for main, both very tasty and cooked well. We couldn't resist a dessert so... More

The good: sardine salad, creme carmel. The low: day old, dry bread, crab cakes (where 's the crab?), risotto with liquid.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
