This was our first time to the Ace. It is a wonderful vintage diner space. We were seated in a booth. Food is carefully and perfectly prepared with the best of ingredients using much home made products. Had a wonderful Eggs benedict. Perfectly poached eggs old school , free swimming in water and vinegar in a pot. Home fries wonderfully... More

Visiting this restaurant is about more than having a good meal , it is about enjoying a bit of nostalgia and reliving a time when life was less complicated and we took the time to really savour each experience. It was more than three decades ago a Chinese restaurant in the style of a diner. The new owners have kept... More

I have been meaning to check out The Ace for awhile now. I went with a friend last week for dinner and was not disappointed at all. The chef cooks to order everything in the kitchen in middle of the diner. We shared the kale salad and vegetarian paté to start. The salad was crazy good. And I don't even... More

I went to dinner here with one of my dearest friends who was a regular here. Even so, the warm welcome we received would have been the same even if we had been strangers - it is that kind of place. I ordered mussels as an appetizer - it could have been a main course - and fried chicken for... More

A local diner with scrumptious well thought out fare. We were a group of 4. Two ordered the Xmas burger, one the clubhouse and one the crispy chicken burger. We all did the half and half fresh cut fries and salad. A perfect and tasty lunch! I'll come back for sure!

Saw this place featured on the popular TV show so we decided to try it on one of our many usual trips to Toronto. We loved the atmosphere - it has a modern feel to it but reminds me of the old-fashioned places that were around when I was a youngster. Very comfortable place to sit and eat and conversate.... Stopped here for dinner with a friend since my favourite restaurant next door was closed for the night. We were hungry and it was close. The Ace had a varied, interesting menu and we each chose an unusual burger. My burger was ground beef brisket and I was happy for the choice of doneness of my burger - not something... More

I tried the mussels, taste very fresh and good quantity. Tried desert and coffee as well, was good. Small place but great friendly atmosphere. Not the right place for a big group.

Been trying to get here for sometime and finally made it last night. They don't take reservations so I was worried that we'd have trouble getting in. The wait for a table was 15 mins which is very reasonable for a Saturday night. The restaurant has a comfortable bistro feel to it and based on the noise level last night,... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
