I met my son and daughter for a business lunch here for the first time. Parking was at first an issue but there is underground parking nearby on Cumberland. We has several dishes prepared at a teppanyaki grill downstairs. The fried rice was amazing and the chicken donburi was as tender as you can imagine. Just incredible food and a... More

Lovely, calm decor. Ate at sushi bar with friends. Service attentive but not intrusive. Kirin Ichiban beer was cold and delicious. Sunomono salad had traditional taste, with bits of octopus and shrimp added - excellent!! Ebi and salmon very good. California rolls tasty and flavourful. Seated in front of chefs so we could see sushi being prepared - always a... More

We recently visited Yamato for a birthday and it was such an incredible dining experience! We had a group of 12 and they were extremely accommodating, sitting us all around a large Teppanyaki table. Our chef, Carby, was amazing - great sense of humour, incredible skill and would occasionally break out into song!! The food was to die for -... More

Malbec, Shiraz etc. I as able to order a few sushi items as well as enjoying from the grill menu. The dipping sauces were delicious. Good... More

Had supper at Yamato with a group of friends; we ate from the Teppanyaki menu which was diverse and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and we were very well looked after. The chef was pleasant enough and entertaining'ish, but not particularly animated. The food was well cooked though and the fried rice is worth the extra $5. There... More

We came here for a friends birthday and we sat at the hibachi, there are two separate seating areas in the front and the back the hibachi is at the back which is best for the front of house. The seating was quite unique as one chef will entertain a family at your station while you sit down, once theyre... More

We have been coming here for years, for family events, celebrations, casual afternoon dining - they never fail to impress with service, attention to detail - and most important - the exceptional food. Sushi is extremely fresh and authentic without fail, and the hot table service and food are equally perfect!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
