have not been in years but wanted something well known and somewhat iconic as a Toronto dining location and thought this would be ideal. The host was completely accommodating in taking a quick reservation and sat us down quickly for an early dinner, We ordered, got our drinks promptly but has to wait an exceptionally long time for main course... We were seated next to the open kitchen...right next to me were fish displayed on ice. It smelled as though we were walking through a fish market. We moved to the upper level where the tables are very close together..too close. The food was good but not great.

Love everything from the service to the food and to the desserts. We ordered seafood risotto, carbonara, Sausages, Italian beer and pecorino wine. Everything was perfect. Love the ambiance too!

This restaurant is the best for food and the scene! A long time restaurant in Toronto that offers the best grilled fish. I am a native of Toronto, but live in Los Angeles. I am back home in TO often and would not miss visiting Sotto Sotto! I sit at the bar and love it. Ambiance is great and it... More

This is a beautifully appointed restaurant - elegant; classy and very impressive! I ordered a salad which was just okay; and the seafood pasta was also just okay. My colleague ordered the fish of the day which looked fabulous! This is a place to "see and be seen". As for the food, it is very good, but not as spectacular... More

Recently we ate at this resto and although it was fully booked they allowed us to sit at the chef's table. Although it is in a busy area of the resto you have a great view of the kitchen ...and wow is that fascinating to view. The service was spectacular with more than 3 servers ensuring we were taken care... More

My wife and I were recently in Toronto to visit friends and see a ballgame when we came upon this little gem. We were looking for a good Italian restaurant in Yorkville and the place we went to didn't have what we wanted. Forlorn, we went out on the street to look for another, My phone wasn't finding a network,... More

A large group of friends had dinner on Saturday night. The atmosphere is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Service was excellent considering the size of our group. The food is very good and flavorful. The only issue is the prices. It's very expensive. I understand the downtown location but it's just too much.

The staff are excellent and attentive. The dining rooms are loud, making conversation a chore, particularly when the inebriated table next to you is laughing and yelling at over 90dB. The Italian dishes are solid (very good but not exceptional). Salads somewhat unimaginative. Pastas were large but seemed hurried and the veal picata plate looked somewhat bare. Prices are on... Using only the freshest ingredients Sotto Sotto offers a considerable menu of simple classics and traditional creations. To start there is an abundance of wonderful salads and antipasti. Pastas are available as a second or main course dish. Main courses feature veal, beef, seafood and poultry and there are also "risotto for two" options. We also serve delicious gelati and desserts including homemade tiramisu made in the time honoured traditional style of the Rocca family.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
