Stayed at the hotel in March. Breakfast was tasty -- thought I would have liked more options to be included with my room than just toast and coffee. Jazz every night was amazing. Drinks were cheap and the staff are just fantastic.
The Rex is comfortable, friendly and has good music throughout the day on weekends (unsure how many sets a day during the week). The patrons are a mix of everybody and very friendly. It’s welcoming and casual. As a solo female traveller I didn’t feel...More
The perfect chill spot for great pub food and live jazz. The poutine was absolutely AMAZING, I'll come back to Toronto JUST to have it again! The customer service was excellent, the live jazz was good as well (cover price). Not far from the main...More
What a great little place for music and food. Ate there twice during a recent visit to Toronto. Enjoyed the fresh cut fries and the grilled tofu sandwich. My wife and son both enjoyed their chilli. Very affordable considering there is often free entertainment while...More
Came for the jazz and had a steak. Was perfectly cooked and not expensive! Diet coke tasted off. Fountain probably needs to be cleaned.
Great vibe and atmosphere. Live music nightly.
Take TTC if you can, but there's a parking complex 3 minutes away.
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of
vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

Yes the rex is a vwery informal place and we truly enjoyed. Yes you can order a soft drink, juice, coffee, tea and just be mellow and listen to the music. Neither my wife an I drink alcohol and we were nnot hassled, It is a restaurant so there is no reason for a minor to not go and listen to music. We love this place and highly recommend it. Hope this info is useful
