The food and service here is excellent, you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. They have a very extensive rum menu and give great suggestion if you are a lover of rum. Prices are great, don't forget to have rum cake for dessert. A great place to spend an evening with friends, Thursday is also keroke night.

It's not the best Jamaican I have ever had, that honour would go to Scotchies in Jamaica BUT it's pretty decent. The patties are flakey and delicious, and the jerk chicken dinner with plantain is really tasty.

The Jerk chicken was tasteless...no jerk flavor whatsoever. The cod fritters were amazing as was the rum punch. Great service but come on, how does the jerk chicken not even taste like jerk.

I love this spot and the food they serve. Music is too loud for me so I often get take out. Jerk chicken is famous but I like the roti.

We live near this great place, and it is really good on so many levels, but you need to be prepared for a really relaxed pace here :) The atmosphere is great, with reggae music and Jamaican colours everywhere. The cocktail list is HUGE and completely island inspired. Loved me Red Passion Martini. There are some reasonably priced wines, too,... More

I keep returning for the ambiance and food that never disappoints. Portions are quite large, just enough spicing and good value for $$.

Our gang of friends, 29 to be exact; recently met and had a fabulous dinner at this authentic Jamaican restaurant. The service was surprisingly good, considering how many of us were there. The food was excellent. The only complaint is they ran out of dessert before we were able to order it. Next time I.m going to order dessert (sweet... More

I have been on numerous occasions and the food has been consistently good. Went at about 10 pm last night and had an uppity waiter lecture us on restaurant etiquette. Apparently, he is only able to see patrons after being informed by the hostess that said patrons have been seated in his section and that we should have waited to... More

I look forward to visiting the Real Jerk anytime I am in the City. Visited last time after spending the day at the CN Tower and Ripley's. Its only a short drive from these attractions. I have traveled all over the Caribbean and I would give the Real Jerk credit for the authenticity of their food. They also have a... More

Description
We have moved to a new location at Gerrard and Carlaw. The Real Jerk is a cultural icon that burst on to the Toronto food scene in 1984. Most new customers are awestruck by the decor which is inspired by beach restaurants in Jamaica, Trinidad, or Cuba. The restaurant had been at its previous location for 24 years and featured a dramatic facade that drew you in and got you hooked on the signature Jerk dishes. As they say at the Real Jerk "we don't just sell food, we celebrate Caribbean culture". Ed and Lilly Pottinger brought their uniquely Caribbean cuisine and widely popular decor to Queen Street East. It has been a mainstay ever since. If your having a special occasion or simply need wholesome comfort food on a cold winter day, the Real Jerk is the place to be. This 80 seat restaurant is also available for theme parties, movie shoots, and catering special events. Simply call to make a reservation.Come and experience what tens of thousands of Torontonians and tourists have already enjoyed over the years.Everything will be irie....

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
