The food was very good and so was the service. The tables are a bit crowded. We were seated right on time of our reservation and we were able to hear ourselves talk, unlike some very loud places.

Oh, you're very kind! Thank you for saying such nice things about us and for telling everyone else on TripAdvisor. We have three children but the restaurant is our fourth baby. And nothing makes someone prouder than when their kids are the source of a compliment. We hope to see you again very soon. More

They kindly fitted us in at the bar as we decided to try the Summerlicious Menu. Everything was delicious. Starters of calamari, and salad with goat cheese scrumptious . Mains of lamb and Arctic char equally good . And desserts of Eton Mess and Flourless chocolate cake completed the perfect dinner. What more can I say. Other than we absolutely... More

Thank you very much for your kind words. We are so glad that Summerlicious brought you into our restaurant and that the delicious food will bring you back! And thank you for addressing the "noise" issue. As I've mentioned before, a lively dining room means happy people and that is exactly what we're hoping to achieve; we're glad that you... More

Our party of four was seated and quickly attended to. Menu is extensive and food was great. However, this is a small room, with absolutely bare surfaces everywhere. The noise level was high, occasionally building to painful levels as other diners screamed to be heard. If you go, insist on a table in the window where you might get some... More

Thank you for your comments. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your food and were promptly attended to. Sometimes the Monkey Bar can be lively, with an attendant increase in volume. As noted in previous responses, we like to think that a hopping room means everyone is having a good time, which is one of the reasons to go... More

My husband and/or I have dined at quite a few restaurants in Toronto, many of them "upscale" (read very pricey). When we were trying to decide on a restaurant to go to for our anniversary, I asked him where he wanted to go. Did he want to try one of the new notable restos we had never been to, or... More

Small attractive place Very noisey and very crowded Too difficult to get into your seat and more difficult to get out I have been going there for years, dont remember the lack of space to this extent It seems that more tables were added in the same space Sevrice seemed rushed, anxious to get on to the next customers Food... On a busy night it can indeed get pretty noisy and crowded. We think that is a good thing: it means people like our restaurant and they are all having a swell time. That’s what every restaurateur hopes to achieve. An empty and quiet restaurant, while spacious and guaranteed to offer you undivided attention, is pretty joyless as far as... More

As someone who loves to cook myself, I don't need to go out to have a great meal but when I do go out my go-to place close to home is the Monkey Bar. For over 16 years I have never had anything but excellent meals here every single time. It's no wonder the food and service are so consistently... More

We went for a couples dinner here recently, and true to the TripAdvisor reviews we had an all around great experience. We were seated promptly when we arrived for our Saturday evening reservation, and while busy, the ambiance was lively but not noisy. Our server was attentive, efficient, yet unobtrusive, with a sound knowledge of the menu and specials. Appetizers were... More

We had a very enjoyable evening this week at a restaurant I didn't know existed. Our friends recommended we try it and after scanning the reviews on Trip Advisor it looked like a no brainer. Living in the hood or over 30 years, I don't know why it took me till now to find this little gem. It was GNO (Girls nights out) and we had a birthday to celebrate. Description
Now in its sixteenth year, The Monkey Bar continues to be praised by patrons and critics alike. Proprietor and classically-trained chef Richard Fox-Revett, formerly of Centro, Splendido and The Four Seasons Yorkville, offers a menu that is a flavourful fusion of Canadian, Italian, French and Asian influences, and includes seafood, game and vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is inviting and the service is impeccable. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from our martini menu, or a selection from our broad list of premium vodka and single malt scotch. An extensive wine list, featuring new and old world wines by the glass, half litre and bottle, complements your dining experience. In addition, all our desserts are made in-house. We even provide a children’s menu for the little ones. Our full menu is also available for takeout. The Monkey Bar offers upscale cuisine at affordable prices, all just steps from your front door. Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
