We spent a fun night at this restaurant during the Hot Docs Film Festival. The service at this place is the star, with the staff both friendly and fun, offering some great stories about the cocktails and food, both of which we indulged..... The cocktails are interesting and tasty and are certainly the best reason to come. The share plates... More

Have been wanting to try out this restaurant for some time but have put it off due to the lack of handicapped parking and busyness of the area. Managed to reserve a table early on a Saturday evening. It was a nice evening so parking, of course, was atrocious but we managed to get a decent spot. The restaurant is... More

TRAVELZOO Coupon "Southern Dinner for 4" — 5-stars ***** Did not disappoint!! EXCELLENT!! First time — loved the kitschy flavour, even for a modernist at heart. We were taken in from the moment we walked in. Seated at front by the bar, with window view of outdoor patio. Cozy table for 4 with small couch. This place has AMBIENCE! Very... More

I love Cajun food and have been to New Orleans. This place is authentic. The décor, ambiance, music, and definitely food. Hard to believe others said food was not flavorful.... Almost each item burst with delight as you savoured them. The crab cakes - mmmm. Oysters on half shell with homemade horse radish, lamb chops perfectly done, and more including... More

WELL--my mouth was watering just reading the menue.BUT---NO flavor.NONE! Even the jambalaya had just the taste of one spice thrown in. The N'awlins Breadpudding was good... More

I've been coming here probably around 3 tines a year for the past 6 years and it's always the same. Perfect. Friendly and attentive staff, great food and amazing cocktails. The price is right on point for what you're getting. Relaxed atmosphere and interesting decor with the only downpoint being that the tables for 2 are a little too small... More

We had never eaten here before but decided to try it for a pre-Xmas dinner with a friend. The atmosphere was friendly, the food was excellent, and the service was both friendly and knowledgeable. We had our two year old with us and the server brought him a few nibbles and a cup of milk prior to us ordering dinner.... More

Having just realized that this establishment has been around for 32 plus years, it made me feel like a newbie in Toronto. It is ideally located in the Mirvish Village (Bathurst and Bloor area), close to the almost defunct Honest Ed's. Easily accessible by transit (highly recommended)... or taxi, whichever suits your fancy. Avoid driving as parking is a commodity... More

We were greeted warmly and taken to our table even though the 2 of us were about 10 minutes early! The rest of our party arrived later. Our Adult family of 5 loved the atmosphere. Eccentric, Electric and full of the Big Easy Vibe ala TO. What a fun, relaxed night! A perfect antidote for a Friday night after a... More

Visited using a Travelzoo coupon ... We tried soup and gumbo ... the former was good, the latter - excellent .. rich flavors with a a long soothing spicy aftertaste ... Appetizers' set was also good ... shrimps with spicy (reminds the Death but milder) sauce ..and superb blackened chicken liver .. lightly breaded calamari rings seasoned just right ...... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
