Love this place

I've been coming here probably around 3 tines a year for the past 6 years and it's always the same. Perfect. Friendly and attentive staff, great food and amazing cocktails. The price is right on point for what you're getting. Relaxed atmosphere and interesting decor with the only downpoint being... read more

We had never eaten here before but decided to try it for a pre-Xmas dinner with a friend. The atmosphere was friendly, the food was excellent, and the service was both friendly and knowledgeable. We had our two year old with us and the server brought him a few nibbles and a cup of milk prior to us ordering dinner.... More

Having just realized that this establishment has been around for 32 plus years, it made me feel like a newbie in Toronto. It is ideally located in the Mirvish Village (Bathurst and Bloor area), close to the almost defunct Honest Ed's. Easily accessible by transit (highly recommended)... or taxi, whichever suits your fancy. Avoid driving as parking is a commodity... More

We were greeted warmly and taken to our table even though the 2 of us were about 10 minutes early! The rest of our party arrived later. Our Adult family of 5 loved the atmosphere. Eccentric, Electric and full of the Big Easy Vibe ala TO. What a fun, relaxed night! A perfect antidote for a Friday night after a... More

Visited using a Travelzoo coupon ... We tried soup and gumbo ... the former was good, the latter - excellent .. rich flavors with a a long soothing spicy aftertaste ... Appetizers' set was also good ... shrimps with spicy (reminds the Death but milder) sauce ..and superb blackened chicken liver .. lightly breaded calamari rings seasoned just right ...... More

The Southern Accent has been around forever! Its design style is chaotic and fun, you can have psychic readings before your dinner, the food is very southern and the staff has always been fun, friendly and funny. Great evening. Again.

My family and I visited SA this evening looking forward to some traditional NOLA foods. The food was decent, but not like traditional cooking you would receive while traveling down south. The service was good, but we were disappointed with the odd spice pairings (i.e. ribs smothered in curry, green jambalaya, etc.) Fun atmosphere, but very poor food for the... More

Perfectly ok place, but I don't quite get the hyperbolic reviews. I had Orleans salad.....basically a fair bit of arugula with very small amounts of the other ingredients (peach, pecans, feta). Main was Jambalaya.....basically a mound of spiced rice with very small amounts of other ingredients (chicken, sausage, shrimp, vegetables). Service fine, but all a little underwhelming. Maybe the resident... More

Went here using travelzoo coupon. Food was excellent. We were given a choice of soups, a platter of apps, choice of main course and dessert. I had steak, 2 others had lamb chops, and another had chicken. We all had garlic mashed and beans with them, except checked had baby bok Choy. Soups we had were gumbo and tomato with... More

Been coming for a decade. Consistently great food and service. Love the Cajon fish dishes, hush puppies and shrimp appetizer. Bourbon Sour worth the trip all by it self.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
